Isn't that a misquote of Einstein? I think Einstein was just using figurative speak, not expressing a faith in god, when he said stuff like that ("god doesn't roll dice")?

Yes, it is a famous misquote. "God" to Einstein was the universe.

I would be interested to know how one would derive a belief in the Christian god from reproducible natural observations alone.
