It's a shame that hostile foreign governments can do this to us without a strong retaliation. We should be doing the same to their social media platforms, such as VK and OK, but it appears that we are not. Though we are more than capable of equal retaliation.

I disagree with your statement that "we should be doing the same."

That said, I think it's possible that we actually are doing the same thing.

Not saying "retaliation" makes any sense, but do you not think the CIA, NSA, DIA, et al do their own share of "mischief"?
