Ask HN: The audio of this YouTube video works on desktop, but not mobile. Why?

View this video on desktop. Then view it on mobile. You'll notice the audio is different. iOS and Android fail to play his voice.

Why is that?

The 24kbps AAC and 32kbps AAC encodes of the audio completely tune out the kid's voice. You can verify this with youtube-dl by getting formats 17 and 36, respectively, to obtain the versions with the unfortunate audio. Better-quality versions are fine.
