Another flavor of this surprise: JSON.stringify doesn't "see" undefined. JSON.stringify({foo:undefined}) returns "{}" :)

Because type (prototype) and data (Json) are two different things, if you need it --
JSON.stringify(obj, (k, v) => v === undefined ? null : v);
