I can't imagine the rage this has unleashed within google. Google will be fundamentally fractured internally because of this one decision.

Google was fundamentally fractured and didn’t know it. Now they know it. At least that’s a start.

Nay, Google was already fractured after Trump election TGIF and last holiday gift. It's popcorn time now.

"last holiday gift"
That would be even funnier if it wasn't so true, given the history of mailing list threads about the holiday gift.

I'm still surprised and wonder "what were they thinking?" Sadly, this just shows how they are disconnected from rank-and-file.

What rage? Google is now showing in cold blood how the opposition is silenced. There will be no rage, everyone will be politely quiet out of fear.

That's what I found so disappointing about the response. I read the manifesto, and there are numerous arguments that are poorly constructed.
Nobody attacked the shitty arguments, rather they started attacking the person making them.

I share the same feeling.
What really upsets me is that the attackers really don't see how bad culture this is, and how instead of promoting progress it actually alienates people and increases the divisions in society. Google's decision is just the epitome of it all.
