How many other startups/companies that MS has invested have given the same rates of return? MS did not lose anything by investing in Apple.

Their gain was two fold

0. escape anti trust scrutiny (the main motivation for the investment)

1. very good return on investment.

How do we know they got a good ROI? It's hard to pin down when they sold it, and for how much. The best information I could find is here:
