They're licensed, bonded, and insured.

If you agreed to let the government and insurance companies do your approval, I'm sure many companies would let up a bit on their requirements.

I was unfairly targetting electricians there I think. I just feel like sometimes the hoops developers have to go through are a bit more strenuous than some other professions, if you accept it as a profession.
