I love so many thing about VSCode but multiple top-level folders is a necessity in order for me to use this as my daily editor.

Use the UserVoice, Luke! It's the main way they get feedback and feature requests and they seem to really pay attention to it.

UserVoice is now deprecated[1], but they are perfectly fine with opening Github issues for feature requests.
