FWIW plenty of people my age (almost 50) dislike it as well (possibly not for the exact same reasons, but still...)

I'm also not a social network fan. Why have my entire work history public? Or want recruiters to have 24/7 access to me when I'm not looking for work.

There are lots of reasons not to bother with linked-in.
