The 700€ Thinkpads also are free of spyware or any preinstalled such software. So, it is possible.

Not that I'd ever buy a device with Windows preinstalled anyway, nor do I recommend it.

Got a brand new T450s this year, and it was chock-full of crap to the point of being nearly unusable.

When you buy Thinkpads, the people who wrote the spyware and made the decision to preinstall it get to continue eating.
