Best advice you'll get here.

It is. Just not for HN's AI evangelists.

A tmux pane is good enough
Re:Hello, how you guys doing on Monday September 14, 2026 @06:39AM (#49694698)
Pretty good considering all the world problems raining down on us.

I still have a job and can afford the higher fuel prices and inflation costs, not happy about it, but as long as I have a roof and some kind of job to keep me alive, I am considering myself well-situated.

What about you?

Werner being ignorant as usual.

No news, skip If you already know about his reputation.

I would flag this just because you asked 4 times to not flag it.

What about just posting it and letting it be? If it will stand the test of time, you will get your maybe well deserved attention.

Begging not to be flagged is weird and I maybe would have read your article If you didn't.

>most of the old people working in the institutions

A problem that will solve itself within the next few years

Amazing work, cool.

I will send this to my students :)

The article is just pure ragebait

Who takes their time to listen to all his bullshit and then write an article about him? I don't believe in any religion, but Jesus be with you bro

Feels like a shill article for Pulumni.

I am not bashing Pulumni, or glorifying Terraform, but the examples shown in the article are simple, and do not proof any of the mentioned advantages.

>Most new data centers in the U.S. are coming to rural areas

Did we expect that they would spawn in the middle of Los Angeles or NYC?

Where else should they go.

Lots of blah little proof of Chinese involvement

Bit of a nothing burger.

Big title, little content.

Re:Ghostty is leaving GitHub on Tuesday April 28, 2026 @05:08PM (#47940797)
Agreed. His suffering comes from his inabillity to see the bad in closed source software. I lost my respect for him when he sold Hashicorp.
Re:A Website, Hosted on an ESP32 on Monday April 27, 2026 @04:42AM (#47919152)
Hug of death incoming? Nice project. I noticed that it takes like one second to load. Might be cloudflare? Or the weak CPU? However, nice proof of concept.
Re:Ask HN: RedHat for Personal Use on Monday April 27, 2026 @04:39AM (#47919134)
Not really.

CV/ML takes a lot of resources, so If you wanted to have an advantage by choosing a certain linux distro, I'd suggest one that sets up a super minimal system.

In reality, choose any distro. Want suggestions? Then perhaps linux mint If you are new to linux.

Re:Terraform is dead on Monday April 27, 2026 @04:27AM (#47919056)
>policies are scattered across IAM, config, and application layers

Where is the problem with that? We handle IAM with HCL/Terraform on GCP. Application config should imo. be out of scope of Terraform. You can handle that in config files, managed via ansible or kustomize, whatever.

Overall I think this article is not to be taken seriously. Terraform is not perfect, but depending on the provider used, it does its supposed job. Configure my cloud infrastructure, GCP/AWS/Azue, even proxmox has a provider.

I think the author just wants one tool that does all things, an AI that builds everything for you.

Re:Lua can be a cool HTML templating engine on Monday April 27, 2026 @04:20AM (#47919018)
Lua can also be a cool scripting language to configure/write stuff for your editor (looking at you neovim)
For European web services it should be a no-go.

I understand the easiness of that approach, but companies should realize that relying on a giant American company for stuff like that, is going to bite them in the ass, eventually.

It's pīngpāng.
Gotta give them something to improve their perception of their living conditions!
Critical thinking.
If that is not one good argument to start producing cocaine locally, then I don't know!

Save the fish.

I love the duality of the EU.

>We need to reduce our dependencies on USA tech companies!

>Google Cloud is a sovereign cloud!

Whether or not the US has that backdoor, we really need open source software for networking equipment. Yes, there are open source firewalls, like OPNSense, but so far we are lacking good and generally available open source software for network switches. And at least from what I have heard OPNSense is more a firewall than a router. Not sure how well it is handling BGP and other stuff ISP need.

Since Mikrotik has been mentioned, I really wonder why they do not open source their SwitchOS. They are essentially giving it away "for free" with each of their switches anyway.

I am aware that network equipment, especially with hardware offloading (fast pass) is a little bit more complicated than just putting a linux kernel onto it, but I really wish for some development into that direction.

Re:Monero Community Crowdfunding System on Tuesday April 21, 2026 @02:33AM (#47845321)
I would actually recommend to just use a hardware wallet. The monero-cli or the Monero GUI-Wallet are sufficient. Just drop your wallet onto an USB stick with LUKS encryption. Get your recovery seed + wallet height written by hand and bury them somewhere in your garden, or your parents garden in safe box.

Drop me your address, and I will also send a little bit your way, to get you hooked!

>Because google actually cares about hardware and software security.

That statement might not have aged so well, especially consindering googles attempt to lock out apps from their devices, If the developers do not comply with being oficially registered.
