Re:Functional Ultrasound Imaging from Scratch on Thursday October 01, 2026 @12:59PM (#49924200)
The engineering is impressive. The actual information you get out of the technique feels considerably less so.
It's like a game to be the shittiest of the shittiest gov't official playing around with technology to surveillance state (and they never ever just do the right thing, they go all out on breaking the law because technology is fun)
Re:CUDA-oxide: Nvidia's official Rust to CUDA compiler on Monday May 11, 2026 @02:55PM (#48099153)
AWESOME!

Is this like FBI dropping traps? Get them to click over here, right time/right place?
Re:Show HN: CSS Studio. Design by hand, code by agent on Thursday April 09, 2026 @11:18AM (#47704891)
$99 dollars vs using Cursor/Windsurf?!
Reads very woke, "it can homogenize thinking among users, reinforcing “dominant styles while marginalizing alternative voices and reasoning strategies"
Re:jQuery 4.0.0 Released on Sunday January 18, 2026 @04:05PM (#46672149)
I feel so old. jQuery was hate/ok early in my career, as I started on the tail end of HTML5/in the middle of ES6 with all the new stuff.

You are so me, exactly.
Re:Modern Font Stacks on Monday October 06, 2025 @02:11AM (#45488145)
Still would love a geometric chunky bold font, like Circular or Sharp Sans, shame that Geometric Humanist doesn’t have heavier weights.
Re:1Password CLI Vulnerability on Monday October 06, 2025 @02:07AM (#45488124)
To limit the attack surface here, maybe follow the permissions model on macOS, access a credential = TouchID/Password each time, just limiting dependencies, still leaves a large attack surface of accessing everything if an attacker is able to find a route through, that’s what they’re looking for is everything right there, somehow some way.

A great milestone for internet history!
There is so much here to debate about. A) Never trust the cyber feds. B) The NSA is not the place anyone thinks, it’s a Wild West in the most bizarre of places, trust me from experience. C) Cryptology concerns more of than security and exchanging messages or packets, sometimes you don’t even know what kind of thing (living) can and has been decrypted. D) The NSA plays very, very, very dirty. It is like a digital CIA, they are in everything (i.e. cyber spies in various roles at tech/telecom/manufacturer company xyz). E) NEVER LISTEN TO THE DAMN NSA / DRIVEN BY A CULTURE OF EXPLOITATION

Completed the game, really awesome!!

Detasking, minimization, FAA/PAA incidents database, etc., yeah right!
Never trust these people, always know that something is going on somewhere.
Re:BART's Anime Mascots on Sunday April 27, 2025 @12:59AM (#43809527)
This train has a lot more history than you think. Something, something about the NSA and mind-reading. You would not believe it.

The Anime Mascots are a good touch.

Sorry to hear. Your next opportunity might be around the corner…

This article is hard to consume, though it’s a shame that many websites are broken, mobile unfriendly.
Re:DOOM CAPTCHA on Wednesday January 01, 2025 @08:22PM (#42570789)
I just started shooting because I kept dying, they appeared and I was able to pass!

Pretty difficult…

Re:Trying to Recreate iOS on the Web on Wednesday December 18, 2024 @06:37PM (#42456732)
Impressive!
Keep ahead of the industry, keep up with blogs and industry influencers for trends, new APIs, patterns, etc; write tests, look at others’ code, practice good coding patterns, always ask a lead/senior to do some pairing when you’re struggling (that’s what I did to help a lot of other developers in my career), ask for feedback/temperature check during 1-on-1s.

Lots of options, some of them require swallowing your pride and putting effort in.

Amazing! I love the interface!
Preach!
I am consistently surprised at the mass creativity with CSS over the years, never ever disappointed!
Re:20 Years Ago, Microsoft introduced its optical mouse on Tuesday May 07, 2019 @03:01PM (#19852386)
We also forget that in 1999, Microsoft was a massive monopoly that consumed everything in the tech industry... Now innovation comes from all directions, the tech industry can breathe!
Re:Windows gets a new terminal on Tuesday May 07, 2019 @03:00PM (#19852377)
Modern day computers are not where a large company like Apple should be investing its resources.

You forget that the battleground in their business is the smartphone, capitalizing on the gains in smartphones and accessories is what will make the most profit. Additionally Apple is well fomented against the PC market taking over, all over Silicon Valley, Macs (Unix) are a clear preference for getting work done.

Apple is so off the charts popular, that their events even take the world's attention. The glitz, the buzz, the beast marketing machine can't be defeated.

Re:Dear Client, Here’s Why That Change Took So Long on Tuesday May 07, 2019 @02:38PM (#19852196)
Mostly during my career, giving the technical explanation to the PM, they are appropriately able to pushback and get the client calm and reasonable, only when the one thing that took long that's now taking longer, that's when it gets tedious...
Re:EU may force iPhone to switch from Lightning to USB on Tuesday August 07, 2018 @08:22AM (#17705802)
Way too much government overreach. It’s ridiculous for government to intervene at this level of product development.
Poor Chad Rigetti
