how is it different for your phone?
Re:Steal My Bitcoin CTF PoC on Monday October 26, 2026 @02:34AM (#50239887)
between the challenge being updated to actually run php and this only like 2-3 hours passed
Re:Show HN: Steal My Bitcoin on Monday October 26, 2026 @02:25AM (#50239841)
yeah between updating the challenge and it getting solved only like a bit over 2 hours passed and that is with the server probably still being super overloaded

> Yes! Was serving pure html through PHP before 13:00-ish UTC when I added that page

Re:"They had no concept of a duty of care to their users." on Thursday October 01, 2026 @05:28AM (#49919575)
that's not what is happening here though?

https://github.com/neovim/neovim/pull/13973#issuecomment-879...

>> It shouldn't overwrite an unreadable file tho, unless I have completely misread the code.

> It doesn't, but because it reads the vim-specific config file from the vim-specified location it then writes a file in that location with the name that vim expects, so files that I first edited in neovim ended up with undo files that vim couldn't read and vice versa. Both programs complained.

kinda interesting that sol and luna have the entire scene with dynamic lighting while astra only included the statue
Re:Claude Code now reads AGENTS.md if there is no Claude.md on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @04:46AM (#49798245)
not that i agree, but this is what an anthropic engineer said about this:

> Our reasoning for this was that we don't think that model families are interchangeable and the system prompt can have a big impact on performance.

https://x.com/trq212/status/2092302273099796842

to be clear though notifications do the decryption on device themselves. signal uses apple/play services only to notify the device that there has been a message, none of the contents are delivered over these services. if you cant trust the device to do that then no messaging app could ever be secure enough
Forgot about that and that def was bad, though imo not really on Signal and would have just as much affected any XMPP app, no? To me this definitely didn't "[throw] it all away" as in your messages were still only on your phone and never decrypted on any server or w/e.
These people includes pretty much every politician. I personally do have an X account and I do use X, but I completely understand why someone would want to read what their politicians are saying without wanting to create an account anywhere
> Or throwing it all away anyways when it's using Apple/Play services for notifications delivery?

What do you mean by "all"

what does debunked here mean? like I can right now go on websites with firefox or safari and they will not be displayed properly. I do personally think federation is worthwhile, but I think it's a bit much to say Signal only cares about power and that all their reasoning for what they did are debunked or w/e.
Re:The case against JPEG XL on Monday September 14, 2026 @04:51AM (#49693821)
why? in jpeg xl i get an image quicker and i can see it getting better, so i know it's still loading while the avif one looks stuck for the majority of the time, which makes it look already done loading and just low quality to me.
Re:iPhone Duo on Thursday September 10, 2026 @07:53AM (#49642216)
that still means it's effectively useless to app developers. who here is creating apps solely for the duo?
Re:Claude, change the "Add to Cart" button to blue on Thursday September 10, 2026 @05:40AM (#49640969)
how can an llm give me any reward? it's also just the state of the llm that was favorable due to the seed or w/e
who lied about what?
Re:Omarchy: Any User Process Can Escalate to Root on Monday August 31, 2026 @08:37AM (#49508950)
i think cachyos actually does interesting things, but i still would never recommend an arch based distro to anyone
Re:Zed: Delta on Thursday August 13, 2026 @06:42AM (#49284026)
is it also build on gpui and does that mean gpui is getting a webgl backend?
gp was talking about 87MB without animations how do you end up at your estimate?
no offense but i dont know you and maybe you do belong on blocklists lol
does that actually work though? if i look through the memory claude has written it's all just things i've said, never anything retrieved from a web search and especially not anything that wasn't explicitly relevant to what i was talking about.
Re:Zed DeltaDB on Thursday August 06, 2026 @06:22AM (#49194796)
is this supposed to compete with a traditional vcs like git? it reads to me like it's a separate different thing
Re:"Clean" Code, Horrible Performance on Thursday August 06, 2026 @05:57AM (#49194654)
the argument that it's more maintainable seems to never be grounded in much of anything though in my experience
Re:"Clean" Code, Horrible Performance on Thursday August 06, 2026 @05:52AM (#49194623)
you are hyperfocusing on a single example. there are contexts where it matters and others where it doesnt sure, but i dont think either approach is inherently easier to understand or maintain
i dont really understand the point. am i never going to buy any tech ever again, because most things tend toward enshitification?
Re:"Gravity is worth asking about." on Wednesday August 05, 2026 @09:17AM (#49182471)
yeah like i do find apple software is now full of ads, bugs and often feels very unpolished. but i also think they have recently increased complexity in a bunch of places and i like that a lot haha... like being able to customize your homescreen more or even the screenshot example! i def use like 3 of those options at least weekly...
Re:Web security is too hard on Wednesday August 05, 2026 @08:14AM (#49181745)
it is so frustrating to me that claude code still does not understand how the bash tool properly functions and no matter how much I mention how it works in my CLAUDE.md it still misuses it.
Re:The Session You Cannot take with you on Wednesday August 05, 2026 @03:47AM (#49179779)
yeah the article says that. but parent talked about just signing it, idk if it's still really moveable then either though...
Re:Qwen3.8-Max: A New Bar for Coding and Cowork on Tuesday August 04, 2026 @10:15AM (#49169331)
i dont see how that answers the question? why not answer more demand with even more ai agents?
Re:More German than many Germans on Tuesday August 04, 2026 @03:30AM (#49165403)
he didnt declare himself that, other germans declared him that...

> Many Germans have told me I'm more German than many Germans

what is the alternative here? never ever running git hooks, lsps etc. all of these are vulnerable. and again no other ide here has a better solution.
