Re:Xmonad – A dynamically tiling X11 window manager on Tuesday April 07, 2015 @02:04PM (#9335864)
Xmonad(and others) is heavily inspired by dwm. I prefer dwm because it is configured in C instead of haskell(I don't know haskell) and the bar is much simpler than xmobar. Xmonad is cool if you like haskell though.

If you want high quality man pages go look at openBSD base, truly exceptional.

Even then, man pages nowadays are massive compared to what they were intended to be, complexity is the bane of all software.

definitely
Re:Compilers in OpenBSD (2013) on Saturday April 04, 2015 @09:26PM (#9322777)
It is really worrying because it seems to be the trend with everything, from web browsers, compilers, all the way down to kernels.
Re:Compilers in OpenBSD (2013) on Saturday April 04, 2015 @09:12PM (#9322757)
The license of CompCert is an instant no to be part of base in openBSD. I believe the reason openBSD hasn't changed to llvm is because it doesn't support all of their current architectures(feel free to correct me on this).
Re:Is the Unix shell ready for XML? (2006) on Saturday April 04, 2015 @05:31PM (#9322279)
The shell itself is a programming language, it has construct and everything because well, it is a programming language.

I am not a fan of the bourne shell syntax but you can write fairly large programs on it, and the idea itself of using other programs and piping it at the core and heart of unix.

Perl is tied with any modern unix for historical reasons, but it has been criticized for not really following the principles of unix really well.

I'll bite because I'm bored as fuck.

they're working on servo(written in rust) as pointed out already, but firefox continues to be the choice for power users, no other browser allows the same level of addons and being so customizable

also, you don't sell your soul to google as a plus
