Amazon used to provide free networking for its readers... I think that it is very cheap to transfer text/"meta-data"... It might even be sponsored by the government...
Any of them automatically connect to open wifi networks or maybe cellular networks?
The FBI stole my Litecoins from BTC-E ... I didn't even claim that loss because it was very small.
If you are talking about the NSA, yes they do have a special channel with Apple... not sure who else does...
Re:To find suspects, police quietly turn to Google on Sunday March 18, 2018 @06:29PM (#16614855)
unless there is a secret law that prevents them to actually do it...
For two programs that do the same thing coded in the same language, I would pick the one with the least amount of lines but that doesn't mean that less work went into it... Probably the opposite
Tesla is already starting to see competitors... if they don't get better quality control, it will probably hurt them soon enough
This government is sick...

In the US, many counties/cites have license plate readers installed already... Not quite as bad as facial recognition but....
Re:Boring Flamethrower on Saturday January 27, 2018 @11:31PM (#16249825)
That's not a real flame thrower.... I used to do something similar to this when I was 10 with a hair-spray can and a lighter

Most homes would probably benefit more by having better insulation... If you are only talking about dollars...
I get your point, but if soldering is the only problem, just get a spring loaded solderless connector for JTAG pads? then it is about the same as USB for many more people?
but it's not physically broken... it's just a different way of connecting to it... so yes I would call that hard bricked, but not broken, since you don't need to replace components
10% equals how many billions of chips?

it's just how it is when everything is digital... digital voting machines with no paper trails are just as bad... if not worst.
Re:A letter about Google AMP on Tuesday January 09, 2018 @03:40PM (#16109828)
I switched to duckduckgo a few months ago and it has been the first time that I felt that I was not missing something... I tried to switch a few other times before that and the results were of much lower quality...
JTAG connector is not that much different from USB at at stage... you just have to remove the case to access it or solder a connector to existing pins? I would call that hard brick... and if JTAG doesn't work, then it might be considered broken by some and need electronic part(s) replaced
to me, soft bricked means that you have to do something out of the ordinary to fix it, something that most people would not know how to do, even if it's just a software problem (maybe it's a new problem that had no known solutions yet)... http://unbrick.itcse.com/soft-brick-vs-hard-bricked-vs-broke...

and they could easily be revoked... If the government wanted to delete somebody, it would be pretty easy... just revoke all tokens and don't issue new ones.

Maybe the government could issue 100,000,000 ID Coins per person, and you would use each of them only once ... a bit like bitcoins, but for ID... You would spend 1 each time you need to prove your identity. They could be in a hardware wallet and could easily be replaced for free.
You appear to be talking about soft brick vs hard brick? neither hard brick or soft brick is physically broken though...
The parent of my previous comment claimed:

> [...] it really feels like people love to watch Space X fail.

which is why I said that...

I don't know in this case because it was/is a secret mission and we probably will never know the whole truth ...
CNN headline: "Zuma spacecraft launched by SpaceX is lost after failing to reach orbit"

I don't like to see SpaceX fail, but I don't like how Elon Musk sometimes appears to try to shift the blame using PR moves...
