Re:Mozilla Introduces Firefox Enterprise on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @08:28AM (#50070611)
How they list "AI controls — allow, restrict or disable AI tools" which Firefox now has under Enterprise, but not normal version.
Re:Mozilla Introduces Firefox Enterprise on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @08:26AM (#50070598)
Does this mean they will remove "AI controls" (i.e. a way to completely shut all LLM shit off) from normal Firefox?
You don't buy their stock to obtain money, you do it to placate the future overlords.
And consequently a gray area of generated slop trying to pass off as created by people.

it's a slop machine

No it doesn't, one can hate LLMs with a passion and still not want features they don't use take 20GB of the storage they paid a premium for.

I certainly hope one of Ironfox or Librewolf will strip this shit out by default.

As if it's mandated now to have social networks on your smartphone. I uninstalled anything owned by Zuckerberg or fucking Spez, I use only Signal for chat and Openstreetmap with offline vector maps for navigation. I have no tiktok or forever-scrolling apps.

Wow, it's nothing. How about writing your PR after the data is not going to the US at all?

What? You can damage even the most robust and simple tool by using it wrongly or inattentively.

> smartphone pairing enables automatic time correction

I like how they're advertising this shitty feature that's much more cumbersome than what their watches have now, namely https://gshock.casio.com/europe/technology/radio/

More like, automatic time correction is the best reason we found for mandating smartphone pairing and we hope you won't remember there's a better solution.

Also, 35 days that the battery lasts is 1/10 of a year, compared to 10 years that radio-synced watches have, so two orders of magnitude less. Fuck off with smartphone pairing, Casio.

edit: 35 hours, lol, so more like three orders of magnitude less.

Except today games all work and invariably markedly better on Linux. Even the games that stopped working on Windows for me work great, like https://www.protondb.com/app/2008510

Fuck your weasel words

...for people who insist on using only Windows on their personal computer.
Re:The enshittification of Amazon paperback books on Sunday March 15, 2026 @06:17AM (#47385945)
I gave up, bought a kobo libra2 that never saw an internet connection (you can find updated firmware online to download) and now just borrow epubs in the soulseek library.
Luckily, they well enshittified it prior to this move, so my account is already deleted. I wish Discord a swift irrelevance.
Re:Firefox Getting New Controls to Turn Off AI Features on Tuesday February 03, 2026 @08:21AM (#46870639)
I don't want to download the code or models for those features in the first place, Mozilla.
Re:Mobile carriers can get your GPS location on Tuesday February 03, 2026 @06:08AM (#46869424)
You can on Android, using this: https://f-droid.org/it/packages/com.celzero.bravedns/ (it's also on Google's store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.celzero.br... )

Set it as a local proxy to channel all network access through it and you can selectively block any app from accessing any network, or isolate it.

I can tell, because I now use forks of Firefox decrapified by nerds in their basements.

That's just false. Example, here's a shitty tabloid in Croatia:

Re:The struggle of resizing windows on macOS Tahoe on Tuesday January 13, 2026 @02:06PM (#46606105)
CachyOS, it's basically a nice installer to jump into rolling arch. (I made sure it's a Ryzen thinkpad, might be relevant)
Re:The struggle of resizing windows on macOS Tahoe on Monday January 12, 2026 @07:25AM (#46587499)
I feel like people who say this haven't seen KDE in a very long time. On a thinkpad it not only "just works", it works flawlessly, never demands attention without justification (i.e. no ads or superfluous items in notifications), every bit of hardware works, all the special keys, fingerprint reader and it's all recognized and usable and configurable from KDE.
I'd download epubs of everything from Anna's Archive and/or soulseek (Nicotine+ is nice) and kindly tell them to fuck off with their account.
