Re:New Sweden: the US's long-lost 'secret' colony on Thursday July 09, 2026 @02:54AM (#48841920)
I thought this was going to be about how Sweden’s claimed neutrality is a sham (even more so now that we joined NATO), but I guess it would have been vassal and not colony in the title if that were the case.
Pretty tricky by the cops to turn off power directly and to steal his cameras. Shows that if you are concerned something like this would happen to you that you need to invest in more resilient solutions. Probably something with batteries and also hidden.
Anyone who things a thing like ”perfect jailbreak resistance” is possible should read Gödel-Escher-Bach

”What's most interesting is what content companies are getting the best deals. It's not the ragebait headline writers. It's not the news organizations writing yet another take on what's going on in politics. It's not the spammy content farms full of drivel. Instead, it's Reddit and other quirky corners that best remind us of the Internet of old.”

I don’t know if I see a company extracting rent from other people as a win…

The woman was dragged by the IDF
Better to just contact NOYB directly, they are responsible for about 50% of all GDPR fines to date. Outside of Norway the DPAs seem mostly useless, especially when it comes to big tech…

They know, they just don’t care. And they have learned if they just ignore problems, then most times they’ll get away with it. Like for example all their responsibilities to stop an ongoing genocide, or to combat apartheid

lol, lmao even

1) give me more money and i will make you rich 2) don’t look at deepseek 3) I repeat: there is no reason to not keep giving me EXPONENTIALLY more money to boil all of the oceans

What is different from Hamas right to exist compared to the IDF or Likud? Hamas certainly has less blood on their hands!

I would dare to say that the Netherlands is poorly governed given the extreme time it took to form a government both in 2021-22 and 2023-24.

We also had something similar in Sweden after the last two elections.

What is the point of them trying to create this? That something like this would mostly be used to create disinformation and create chaos is easily understood before making something like this.

Truly irresponsible

Personally I feel a bit insulted that security can mandate a “tool” like this to “prevent” sql injections. Just because they are clowns doesn’t mean that we are.

Sorry users, the string “a > b” is not allowed any more. But fear not, “å > b” works just fine

Re:Metabolism of autism reveals developmental origins on Monday May 13, 2024 @09:12AM (#40342962)
It’s one thing to prevent being born with hardship and preventing being born at all. Which is the case with Down’s screening.

But it’s not that I’m against it or wanting to forbid it. It’s that these are very tricky subjects with a lot of very hard moral issues that need careful consideration. In the end I believe it should be about letting people have a choice and to remember that people are human even if they are different. To not take away someone’s agency.

Re:Metabolism of autism reveals developmental origins on Sunday May 12, 2024 @07:56AM (#40333701)
That’s even worse, of course you are allowed your own feelings. What gives me the creeps is when people start talking about prevention it easily slides into eugenics or other things that deny poeople agency or even their humanity.

There is a similar thing for deaf people. Or how screening for Down’s has changed the reality of raising a child with it.

As some one who is let’s say “autism adjacent” it really bothers me when people discuss a cure or prevention. I mean I get it, but this is also who I am and I wouldn’t want to be someone else.
This is a very sad development, imagine this in the time of Raul Wallenberg (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raoul_Wallenberg) or Harald Edelstam (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harald_Edelstam)

Embassies are sacrosanct because you don’t shoot the messenger, then there would be no diplomacy.

Im the key change when the CAPS start, there were some mispronouncing and it did stop a bit early but I think that this was pretty impressive.

One of the first times I’ve felt like this AI stuff could actually help create something real. I could see musically challenged people like myself use this to realize some ideas that otherwise would never have left our brains

Wrong, first they blocked the Kansas Reflector but when they fixed that the “offending” column was still blocked. That column was reposted by someone else and their whole website was also blocked.

There is controversy and malice

There are institutions like Medieombudsmannen and pressens etiksråd that work with enforcing the rules of press ethics in Sweden.

Your allegations against SVT is them spreading misinformation directly, the EU is investigation how Twitter as a platform handles misinformation being spread. It’s a different thing

Please show me where on the doll Jane Josefssons questions made you uncomfortable, lol

Generally there have been quite few major labor conflicts in Sweden because when you have signed a collective bargaining agreement the unions can only strike to enforce it.

Also turns out that an organized instead of vulnerable and exploited workforce is quite productive

Why would you ever think that you could buy something from Google and keep it? Scroogled once again
While ads suck and I think this is a shitty move by YouTube, I I find it hard to argue against a company that runs on ads not having a legitimate interest in making sure that they are being able to display them on their own website.

I think you could even make a good argument that YouTube MUST take appropriate measures to ensure that they display ads that have been paid for. To count impressions so they are able to bill their clients they need to do more or less the same things required to detect ad blocking.

No, they don’t they feed hay to cows.
Re:GDPR for Developers by Example on Wednesday August 03, 2022 @04:28AM (#32329083)
This is wrong on many of the early points so I didn’t finish it but: - on financial information, you must delete everything not required for regulatory purposes if requested by the user. - on logs, while there is a legitimate interest to be able to find logs related to a user to be able to help them in support cases you cannot keep that information indefinitely. And once a user requests deletion that need is no longer relevant.
