Was so happy to read this, thank you for posting.
This is also very useful for legal situations.
It’s good marketing because people perceive mathematicians as the smartest of the smart.
> in which case almost none are
It's this one, but different careers will diminish at different rates. Mathematics was already not financially well rewarded, and current AI is basically better than everyone in the field.
> this very attitude could lead to AI creating one of the biggest slowdowns in progress in history
I think there are enough young people with pre-AI experience that we'll probably develop superintelligence before they retire, so I don't really think a near-term lack of fresh talent will result in any significant slowdown.
> I doubt they went into it for the money.
I assumed the student ultimately wants a career that is financially viable.
> Then what?
Literally anything else?
I would probably tell them to not study math.
Yeah, for someone stating how important mathematics is, their reasoning is leaky as hell.
I thought he was giving away 99% of his wealth?
I would bet that the parents of math PhDs are generally more privileged than the parents of construction workers.
noooooooo he’s the billionaire with a heart of gold nooooooooo he’s just a sweet old man who likes mcdonald’s!!!!
> AI performed the mathematical verification
That should be done by the human writing the manuscript, i.e., you.
From the manuscript linked in your profile:
> The author declares the intensive and extensive use of Gemini 2.5 Flash and Gemini 3.0 Pro (Google) and sincerely thanks its unlimited interlocution capacity. The author declares as their own responsibility the abstract formulation of the research, the conceptual guidance, and the decision-making in case of intellectual dilemma. The AI performed the mathematical verification of the multiple hypotheses considered throughout the process, but the author is solely responsible for the final content of this article. The prompts are not declared because they number in the thousands, because they are not entirely preserved, and because they contain elements that are part of the author’s privacy.
> we will see something similar to what is shown in Fig. 1–1
In your penultimate sentence, why did you put the period outside the parentheses instead of inside?
To gain 400 pounds of muscle mass.
> This will become transparent
No it won't.
I don't get why people keep saying its style will start to become recognizable. You can have it write things in any number of styles and levels of verbosity.
Just wanted to say I appreciate your comment and your spreadsheet. Thank you.
The subset you're talking about is the union of extremely non-native English speakers and native English speakers over 120 years old.
> For that matter, people call themselves "gay" for "joyous".
Uh... I don't think people do that anymore.
> However, at some level you have to admit that the input to ChatGPT is almost as high level as directives from project managers, and the output is almost low level enough to simply input directly into source control.
This is the part that is going to change the way people work in fundamental ways very quickly. It will turn good software developers into non-shitty project managers, project managers into ?, and mediocre developers into ?.
No. Because I like money.
If by "spray pattern" you mean bursts of three shots, sure. But this thing is not playing like a pro in any respect.
