I havent switched to a 3rd party harness yet so quick question for anyone, does the claude code or codex harness not give the models a significant improvement in their ability? Or does prompting a model on openrouter vs claude code yield the same result?
Re:MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display and Touch on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @03:04PM (#50279165)
Yes unless you've seen nontech people use a touchscreen you won't get the appeal.

Some people don't intuitively use trackpads so they'll use a mouse and if they discover touchscreens that becomes a feature that needs to come with any laptop after that.

Re:AI promised less work. I've never worked more on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @01:12PM (#50262369)
I like this and then I also timeblock so I write out manually on paper every 30 minute increment, and then as the day goes you mark what you did in the previous 30 minute block. Doesn't need to be perfect but it kind of anchors you when at a desk and then it's interesting to look back at the end of the day and see how productive or unproductive you were.

Good strat.

Re:No More Icons in Every Menu by Default on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @06:04PM (#50188317)
Apple is/was regarded as the gods of design and ux. Does anyone know what it takes to get hired there as a designer now? Are the original designers with actual vision still there? I imagine they would need to really be conscious of not hiring average designers who just have a resume of top companies they have worked at but need the type of people steve jobs would have hired himself.

Easier said than done so it's not surprising they have atrophied in their former genius but im curious.

I hope people are tracking this and we'll get some enlightening reports in a few weeks.
How are you guys doing orchestration? I have been fumbling around in my free time trying to build something for myself but is there a repo or something that just works?
Re:What Meta Got Right with Muse on Saturday October 03, 2026 @08:18PM (#49949222)
Seems to me like they just copied Claude's distinction of Cowork because it sounded better to enterprises but it should never have been pushed to the userbase.
Yep one imaging center in LA is charging $45 out of pocket for the AI diagnosis.
Re:Show HN: Panda, the world's first personal AI computer on Sunday September 27, 2026 @10:20PM (#49872823)
This has to be a scam for normies to forget about the deposit they made by ship time.
Maybe we need our AI to only respond in bullet point lists.
I know multiple people who bought mac minis just to run claude cowork on them
Very true. I bought and setup minecraft server hosting in middle school, which got me enough money to build my first pc in high school. And the rest is history. :)
I really need one on the app store or sideload for iOS. I am not a fan of Apple's dictation.
Compiled resources for nerds are catnip. Hit that bookmark/upvote button to never get to it :)
If this is your website, I would recommend an actually noticeable button to go to the repo, it took me a good minute to find the little icon lol.
I use handy and it does the job very well, is there a difference with hex or any other transcription app if we are using the same underlying model? Or just UI/UX stuff?
At least Tesla is doing something right with direct sales and no suffering through a dealership just adding on cost.
A cool study actually just came out linking the rise to a common pesticide. Hope the EPA investigates asap and we get more funding for the cool methodology. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-026-04342-5
Re:Our eighth generation TPUs: two chips for the agentic era on Wednesday April 22, 2026 @09:12AM (#47863090)
Yeah I think there will be a time in a few years (1-2?) when both Google and Apple will get to eat their cake. They aren't playing the same game of speed running unpolished product releases every month to double their valuation. They have time to think and observe and put out something really polished. At least that's the hope! :)
I'd wager it's more just more addiction/engagement since people/kids probably develop a deeper habit scrolling on a phone instead of a bigger screen.
I love and have been using handy for a while too, what we need is this for mobile apps I don't think there's any free apps and native dictation is not always fully local and not as good.
Re:OpenScreen is an open-source alternative to Screen Studio on Saturday April 04, 2026 @08:01PM (#47644791)
Now we need an open source self hostable Loom.
What a nice retirement fund!
Is this pronounced keovo/keyovo? Just thoughts for a shorter name. Cool project!
Re:How the AI Bubble Bursts on Monday March 30, 2026 @04:52PM (#47579572)
Yep i have nontech friends and even the younger generation students talking about how Claude is better at certain tasks or types of homework problems lol.

If it's used as a tool not just search, then people will definitely talk about the other stuff. Students who rely on free tiers will also definitely just have everything bookmarked.

Re:Netscape News Feed Straight Out of the Late 00s on Sunday March 29, 2026 @04:48PM (#47567141)
As someone who isn't old enough to have experienced this era of internet, the contrast of efficient utility for the user between this and modern news websites is really upsetting. :(
We love when new users join hn don't we :)
We are reaching new heights of comment slop
I was just looking into the custom anthropic sans and serif fonts used for the claude app, I really like those!
I've heard 'just ai it' from high schoolers.
