Re:Ask HN: What are you working on? (September 2026) on Sunday September 13, 2026 @08:09PM (#49690161)
i'm building a common lisp operating system capable of diverse double compilation and booting a raspberry pi.

well, claude is: https://modus-lisp.github.io

you can't wave your hands, say "zero knowledge", and be private. this is too little information to be useful
Re:Creepy Crawlies on Sunday August 30, 2026 @04:57PM (#49502724)
sounds right to me. ai will shred it
Re:Creepy Crawlies on Sunday August 30, 2026 @12:06PM (#49499916)
this is an increasingly common situation. it goes something like:

  - i have a free, niche resource
  - it becomes too popular
  - i make it more efficient
  - now it's really popular, and people are "abusing" it
  - let's make them proof-of-work
  - ... and proof-of-work harder
  - but now "legitimate" users can't use it
  - ???
the core problem is that the average person uses a mobile device where work is expensive, and the "attackers" use servers where work is cheap. if you require expensive proof-of-work, next comes a cheap-work-as-a-service where inefficient mobile devices pay small amounts of money to get efficient servers to complete their work for them. now everyone has an interest in making their usage efficient, but there's still an obvious inefficiency in the system: why have people pay unknown 3rd parties to burn cpu cycles to reduce costs for a free service, when you could just have people make small payments that cover the service's costs?

which is called l402/x402. micropayments' day has come

Re:A Road to Lisp: Which Lisp on Friday July 17, 2026 @12:38PM (#48949335)
i've spent decades reading and writing code. i just want something that works
Re:A Road to Lisp: Which Lisp on Friday July 17, 2026 @11:59AM (#48948906)
I have a work-in-progress called Modus. 100% written by Claude, so take that however you will. The current release boots on a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W. The next release (unreleased in the pipe for ~ months) is standard Common Lisp on bare aarch64 (pi) and x64 (qemu for now), with linux aarch64 and x64 command line interfaces à la sbcl.

https://github.com/modus-lisp/modus

Since you can't use an OS by itself, I've rounded out the Common Lisp environment with portable ssh client and server, web browser, and a bitcoin node. Framebuffer with VNC in the pipe

+1 Having a travel time speed of [∞, realtime] would make this installation art

it would seem so. so the question is why they would maintain an air gap for a safety report

eclipse also does better than dot, but it's useful to notice that graphviz never dies

this is called relativism, and while accepting relativism is seen to be defeatist, thinking that you know the truth is usually naive.

except math. math is true

a leaked document shows that at least one person was recognized to have the appropriate visa and was coerced into leaving "voluntarily". no details on how prevalent this was have been released

Only formally proven systems will be secure
You could try issuing two prompts: one to "think", and another to "say to the group". Not as nice as having a model that can properly format its response, but you'll get more accurate results.
This is a fantastic idea! Reading through one of the games I see:

- players are named based on their model, which can be ambiguous

- some model responses are being cut short

- some models seem to be thinking out loud, or at least not separating their chain of thought from what they tell the group
