Do you know they are using pi or are you inferring it?

How are you handling subagents?
Re:What ORMs have taught me: just learn SQL (2014) on Sunday July 05, 2026 @01:30AM (#48791467)
This is one of the major drawbacks to ORMs imo (though it’s not necessarily the ORMs fault). People think domain and data models are the same but they most definitely are not.
Re:Ask HN: What are you working on? (June 2026) on Sunday June 14, 2026 @11:05PM (#48536097)
I really wish they could find a way to make Maker Nexus more affordable.
Re:macOS Container Machines on Wednesday June 10, 2026 @10:40AM (#48477013)
How would I replace docker compose containing multiple services that communicate with each other with this? Seems cool for an individual service.
What should we be looking for?
I assume because local models are nowhere near as good. Hoping I’m wrong!
Re:Palantir Wants to Reinstate the Draft on Monday April 20, 2026 @09:01PM (#47843301)
The most recent episode of the podcast “Search Engine” explored the cost of war and pretty much said exactly what you did. Besides the obvious war is bad, it’s so unfortunate we are passing on the cost to future generations. And for what?
Good idea, though I'm not sure how to enforce it. You can ask an AI for that and then rewrite it in your own words.
Re:Obsidian Sync now has a headless client on Sunday March 01, 2026 @04:37PM (#47210938)
I'm having a hard time understanding when I would use this. Could someone provide some examples?
Re:Major AWS Outage Happening on Tuesday October 21, 2025 @09:51AM (#45655793)
How do you handle replication lag for databases?
Re:Delete Tests on Friday August 29, 2025 @11:46PM (#45071751)
I find testing terminology very confusing and inconsistent. Personally, I prefer tests that cover multiple components. Is that an integration test because you test multiple components? What if you system is designed in such a way that these tests are _fast_ because the data access is abstracted away and you can use in memory repositories instead of hitting the database?
While it's truly a great ongoing effort and I am grateful to all the contributors, it's not nearly complete. You may think you're using the correct type until, surprise, you are not.
Re:The Pain That Is GitHub Actions on Thursday March 20, 2025 @02:37AM (#43420319)
Oh how I wish engineering leadership would actually mandate certain things such as this.
Re:The Pain That Is GitHub Actions on Thursday March 20, 2025 @01:52AM (#43420190)
That requires Github Enterprise (if using GH, of course), no?
Re:The Pain That Is GitHub Actions on Thursday March 20, 2025 @01:16AM (#43420068)
Unfortunately people will use --no-verify to bypass hooks.
Re:Upgrading Uber's MySQL Fleet on Monday October 14, 2024 @10:30AM (#41837887)
What is your use case?
Re:Stripe's Monorepo Developer Environment on Monday August 19, 2024 @09:20AM (#41290831)
I came to ask the same thing. We use docker-compose to describe all our services which works fine.

Hi! I bring over a decade of experience as a software engineer. I spent a solid portion of that time as a backend engineer building out APIs in Django. In my current position, I have built upon those skills and acquired plenty of new ones as a platform engineer. A significant part of my role has involved evolving and optimizing our infrastructure (AWS) with a focus on cost savings and maintainability with improved Terraform practices. In addition, I have built and improved multiple internal libraries and services to make our engineers' lives easier. In my next role, I'm looking to leverage these skills and help advance a team to the next level.

Re:How to Get the Most Out of Postgres Memory Settings on Wednesday June 12, 2024 @10:12AM (#40658395)
How do you know when you need to reindex?
How does one find these auctions?
how large is your cache and how long does the pull/push take?
i haven't looked into setting up a buildkit server. would it be easier to just attach an ebs volume?
Re:We migrated our PostgreSQL database with 11 seconds downtime on Thursday January 18, 2024 @11:50PM (#39051670)
How did you go about stopping and restarting applications which reach out to the database? We have a number of tasks running in ECS which can take a minute to spin down and a few minutes to spin back up.
Re:How to delete your data from data brokers on Sunday January 14, 2024 @09:54AM (#38990923)
I've been hesitant to submit removal requests due to requirement of uploading a picture of your ID. How can I trust these shady companies won't use this irresponsibly?
Those who have completed this, do you recommend the book or MOOC?
