In the past I've been hacked for some owncloud lldap vulnerability.

Do not allow access to owncloud without a vpn!!

I see absolutely nothing special in a pc that lives 10 years. Most pc last that long. And my centrino-1 vaio laptop from 2004 is still alive
I used to love

bringing back species because we'd like to taste them is somehow interesting

I have a 2000 days streak... I finished the Japanese course twice, all gold. Now they changed and I am at unit ~45/90. It will take me ~45months to finish it again.

And I am still not able to understand even a basic Japanese dialogue

I wonder if Rosetta Stone is better

Re:Unfolder for Mac – a 3D modelcreating papercraft on Tuesday February 28, 2023 @05:24AM (#34967750)
oh, it's for mac only
I'm a huge fun of Beyond Burger. It's awesome!

...but it is so expensive. In my country (EU) it's easily 2x the price of real meat. And sells frozen in packs of 10. And there is ONE store that sells it.

At reduced price, packs of 2 would be a hit. Like this it's "yeah I tried it once, it was good... nope, not going to buy again"

His family should have monitored his online activity but failed horribly to do so.

#1 Problem is: sweat

Even in winter, after a couple of minutes the headset screen is completely foggy and my head is uncomfortable

I tried the oculus, htc, cardboards... all the same. At this point I think this technology will simply not work for me

Re:How to Download All of Wikipedia onto a USB Flash Drive on Friday October 07, 2022 @04:05AM (#33118575)
and now donate to Wikipedia, because you just caused them to pay for 95Gb of (useless) traffic
or simply set up another vlan for the cameras (and this does not require any configuration on the cameras, just on the switch)

Re:I think I know why you can't hire engineers right now on Thursday January 13, 2022 @03:54AM (#29918343)
brace brace, because in EU salary are more in the 50k range than in the 100k range.

Here "what would you do for +10k" -> "ANYTHING"

Re:5 side projects in 6 years, earning $0 on Monday October 25, 2021 @03:26AM (#28985261)
1. he tried to monetize a game that should have been free/ads

2. the time tracker could have worked! Not "I'm gonna be rich" worked but still could have been something.

3,4. he didn't do them

5. tried to compete against linkedin/facebook?!

IMHO we are always too oriented to "make money, NOW"... Doing free stuff is ok. It's not that "if it's free then scrape the whole project, what's the point anyway"!

The opensource/free stuff you make ends up in your CV, and could be a game changer

Re:Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro on Wednesday October 20, 2021 @03:01AM (#28927637)

EU here, things seem pretty good here.

* I ordered 20kg of oranges from sicily, no shipping costs, arrived in 2days

* Coffee, same thing

* a bass guitar, same

* groceries are delivered in a day from local shops

* for electronics i bought from many shops, usually takes ~1week. still OK for a washing machine or those big items

...seems that "the infrastructure" that amazon required for ups/dhl/* are being used by any other (even tiny) buisiness.

My only complain is Ikea. Ikea doesn't cooperate.

Paywalled site, T$DR.
Re:Logitech MX Master 3 vs. 2S Teardown on Wednesday December 18, 2019 @03:35AM (#21822948)
have the mx3, so far all good. but.

I use linux... yes it works as a standard 5 mouse buttons, but there is no software for gestures or thumb scroll. Windows has those. Linux will probably never have anything like that

(thumb gesture-button seems to trigger KeyPress Meta+TAB, binding it seems not-so-easy)

Re:Advent of Code 2019 on Friday November 29, 2019 @04:26AM (#21663199)
problems are quite interesting (after initial days, those are usually trivial)

e.g. once in 2017 you had problem1: implement an interpreter for this asm-like language. ok, 5 instructions, super easy. ...problem2, run this asm-like program. You couldn't, it was 10^n iterations, would take days. You had to read, understand and optimize the asm-like code.

last year I was amazed writing a function to check if two rectangles intersect (you can do it in like 2 lines)

so, TLDR, you get a lot of "hey that's cool! I never thought about it"

Re:Solving the Rubik’s cube with a robot hand on Wednesday October 16, 2019 @03:11AM (#21267852)
world record one handed is 6":88 average of 5 is 9":48 https://www.worldcubeassociation.org/results/rankings/333oh/...

non-world-class: doing <30" one handed is very doable, anyone can do less than 1 min (yes, if you know how to solve and you trained one handed. ofc not if you never solved a cube in your life)

that said... I really don't understand how the hand keeps the cube "floating" around. In one handed the technique is pretty much to keep the cube fixed holding front/back centers with thumb and index. Something like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUF3aPDTO-4

I understand the achievement, but wow, this solve is HORRIBLE. What did they train the network with to get this?!

Re:Facebook Horizon on Friday September 27, 2019 @04:43AM (#21089765)

you need to play Kerbal Space Program....
USB for a nas?! nope nope nope

~2012 mini-itx AMD C60 does 60Mb/sec, at the time was ~60€

mmm, you think they don't already know that?
I don't think we can answer that

I mean, before we knew that radio waves exists we could not forsee the use of radio for communicating

so, I'd say that better ways of communicating relay on something that physics hasn't found yet (like, you know "that weird supersimmetry decay thing that only su-top quarks do when reacting with Stuff")
