Re:iPhone Duo on Thursday September 10, 2026 @04:24AM (#49640254)
This esim handoff is interesting. Why don't MacBook pros have modem and esim and work even more seamlessly between iPhone and MacBook? - Because operators wants to charge you for separate subscriptions

Many office workers gets some MacBook and iPhone by their employees. Do they actually need both if the employer can just hand them something like a duo which transforms to a desktop computer via usb-c cable?

Ive said for years there is nothing technical hindering an iPhone to become a something that looks like macOS when connected to large display, its just ui transformation.

But then, apple can't sell you an iPhone, an iPad and a MacBook. This is why they don't go this route I think, and this is maybe the hinder that something like the iPhone duo won't reach the full potential it could have.

33000 something, nov 2008. Just interesting to see how the growth escalated in 2009 judging by other comments here as well.
Great, the esp32 will probably never be discovered. Because when the landlord decides to fix the original problem, the whole unit will probably be replaced.
Re:Archive or Delete? on Wednesday November 12, 2025 @03:28PM (#45906091)
Your kids collect stones and sticks. You collect emails, and probably browser tabs and desktop icons. When you move to new PC, all your desktop files ends up in a directory called New folder on the new pc’s desktop and the journey to fill the new desktop starts over before you have New folder and New folder 2 on the upcoming pc.

"A developer’s dream is a devops engineer’s nightmare"

Well, the opposite is very much true as well.

A devops engineer's dream is usually a developers nightmare.

Re:Ask HN: Should we own the free stuff we pay for? on Tuesday February 15, 2022 @08:25AM (#30346066)
Sorry for the harsh attitude here.

You work as devops engineer for 15y and you reply-all to spam emails?

Look at those gifs enabling the rounded corners.

And also remember how slow connections was back then so the progressive enhancement from square to round wasnt just a blink.

So many memories

Excellent release. Congratulations ant team.

Now waiting for the future without any IE support at all to make bundle even slimer and significantly more performant.

Oh man the memories. Games are just too complicated these days.

"On October 24, 2005, 3D Realms (formerly Apogee) released a maintenance patch to fix a bug in the game which set the player's computer's clock backwards 100 years after playing on Windows XP." lol.

HealthKit is about quantified self. Aggregating data from services like runkeeper, garmin, mapmyfitness, nike+, withings, myfitnesspal, fitbit, jawbone and all the others. Apple is also clever in the way that they release this api first, making all these provides use their api first, before they release their own iWatch which likekly will have sensors to contribute to healthkit.

Re:You might not need jQuery on Friday January 31, 2014 @01:55AM (#7155666)
Its not about reinventing the wheel. Its about being open minded. jQuery is great, and if you are going to use zepto, you might as well use jquery 2.0

But it doesnt hurt to understand how basic stuff works under the hood of jquery and to know native dom operations. The world is not black and white. Good developers know that, they dont get stuck in discussions whatever jQuery should be used everywhere or nowhere.

Great post! Thanks for sharing. Ive made my way with backbone in a similar way to optimize rendering, and I learned some new tricks with this post. We use trello on daily basis to review our app and system development.
Re:Git add -p on Monday January 20, 2014 @10:57AM (#7090099)
Im mostly disturbed by the "most powerful" part because this is subjective to project and how you work. It's not a very common case for me to commit parts of changes in a file because in most of my cases all changes I do to a file belong to the same commit since I work with feature branches. However when I do need this it's indeed powerful but judging by the enthusiasm of the post and title it just smells like the endorphin release of new feature discovering.

I actually like it. It reminds me of kenrockwell.com

Re:Flat UI: Free Web User Interface Kit on Tuesday March 05, 2013 @06:47AM (#5323984)
there is also http://web2dev.me/metrostrap/index.html and as someone else pointed out bootstrap 3 is more or less flattened out as well.

I guess its a trend thing, when it became to easy for regular developers to do designers job that used to take hours in photoshop with css3, gradients wasnt that interesting anymore...

Re:Flat UI: Free Web User Interface Kit on Tuesday March 05, 2013 @06:44AM (#5323978)
In case you didnt know, the work in progress version of bootstrap 3 is more or less flat and what is achieved in "flat-ui" could in bootstrap 3 be achieved by just tweaking the variables.
Submodules and symlinks are way to underestimated. Use.
