Re:BGP in a Nutshell on Thursday July 08, 2021 @10:02AM (#27772063)
As someone who has worked with bgp off and on for over 20 years, I suggest looking elsewhere for information on BGP.
Re:Ultraprocessed Food Consumption and Risk of Type 2 Diabetes on Thursday December 19, 2019 @06:25PM (#21840335)
twice a day, not much, like a few chop stick grabs.

Since I am slow to respond and the post is a bit old, this is what I said to the guy who asked me how I make it

Pretty basic, I buy 3 or 4 heads of chinese cabbage. Dice it up in to 1 inch squares roughly. Add grated carrots, ginger and onion (and garlic, 2 or 3 whole heads, forgot to mention this to other poster). I then soak that all in salty water (about the same saltyness as the ocean) for about 4 hours. Then I rinse it all twice. Finally I add three or four table spoons of dried red peppers finely ground, three or four table spoons soy sauce, three or four table spoons fish sauce. Finally I put it in a big pot and let sit at room temperature in a dark room for 48 hours. After that into jars and into the fridge. I eat it twice a day usually breakfast and dinner, not even that much. After years and years of lansoprosol, omeprosol and xantac, and tums tums tums, not one hint of heart burn since.

Edit: and garlic, 2 or 3 whole heads. I usually blend the garlic, as pieces of garlic turn blue or green and look odd

I haven't taken Omeprosol once since I started eating my homemade fermented kimchi daily. Totally anecdotal, but it works for me!

Thank you for all the time and energy you put into this amazing project!
Re:Uxbox – The open-source prototyping tool on Tuesday November 19, 2019 @06:56PM (#21579736)
pencil kicks ass, blows omnigraffle out of the water and you don't have to find with omnigraffle every few weeks when they do an update and claim again that your license is invalid or pirated!
Re:WebWindow, a cross-platform webview library for .NET Core on Monday November 18, 2019 @10:02PM (#21570340)
none of these support .net natively
Re:WebWindow, a cross-platform webview library for .NET Core on Monday November 18, 2019 @09:52PM (#21570305)
Very cool, I am hoping the project is in fact supported and maintained!
Re:Asterisk 17 on Friday November 01, 2019 @12:45PM (#21420840)
Yah, I think this is the right answer. FreeSwitch is a great deal newer than asterisk and has a more logical configuration system imho. The big one is FusionPBX which is web based and runs on top of FreeSwitch - I suspect this is the main driver for do it yourself deployments these days.
Re:CorkScrew: A tool for tunneling SSH through HTTP proxies on Tuesday October 29, 2019 @09:50PM (#21393933)
I think they are implying that the code of wrapping binary data up and going through an HTTP proxy might prove useful for another project.
Re:A GUI framework for C# console applications on Monday October 28, 2019 @11:14PM (#21384002)
just a guess here, but this library is for c# and brick appears to be for haskel
Re:A GUI framework for C# console applications on Monday October 28, 2019 @10:38PM (#21383851)
Very cool, can't wait to try it out! I've been using Miguel de Icaza's Console project with success but I feel this project might have a ton more options and flexibility!
Yes, it's "almost" comical. The advantage of having a CDN with a pop in every city, vs. just having 3 or 4 well placed POP's around the world will be marginal once HTTP3 is broadly supported.
Re:Uber lays off 435 people on Tuesday September 10, 2019 @04:28PM (#20933304)
100% agreed, I started doing this for a small project my company has. We don't really use it anymore, but it would be helpful to many hobby projects however we are now sitting here saying 3 weeks work to just give this code away? ick.
Re:OpenVPN vs. WireGuard – A Short Comparison on Tuesday September 10, 2019 @12:24PM (#20929924)
Cool, haven't tried it, YET, but will be. Any chance it has the option to export configs, I.e. use as a config generator for multiple devices?
Ahh ok, thank you for clarifying that, I was rather confused about it all. I didn't know much about the project by I managed to invent a wrong memory that it was always a C# thing, not that insanely bonkers js, node, applications are webpages thing :)
What do you mean microsoft owns Electron, looks all open source https://github.com/ElectronNET/Electron.NET the guy happens to work at microsoft?? can you clarify?
winforms on mono never really worked, and hasn't been updated in about 12 years https://github.com/mono/winforms
I did enjoy the first 20% of the post explaining the difference in file system types, however beyond that I was pretty much lost :)
Re:Show HN: Sourcery – get a free, self-updating website on Saturday August 24, 2019 @08:05PM (#20790504)
Thanks for that, I had the same question mostly because their site is down.. It's to bad you gotta install an app to try or even see the basics of how both of these sites work.
Re:Maglev Heart Could Keep Cardiac Patients Alive on Thursday August 22, 2019 @12:00PM (#20769525)
Good luck to the people working on this project, it sounds amazing!
Re:OpenDrop: An Open Source AirDrop Implementation on Monday August 19, 2019 @01:40PM (#20739867)
I agree, it really is to bad there isn't a better way of distributing Python. I've not had much of an issue with it running for console based pure linux stuff mind you, it tends to in my experience fall apart when you add gui elements and/or go outside of linux.
Re:Tasty Seaweed Reduces Cows’ Methane Emissions by 99% on Friday August 16, 2019 @09:44AM (#20715039)
Ok so strange question, does this have an effect on humans as well? Do regular sushi eaters fart less? (;
What a lazy bugger (;
Re:MPEG1 Single file C library on Thursday August 08, 2019 @03:49PM (#20647969)
Excellent stuff, really excellent. Thanks for the additional links and cool tangents too!
I've never really spent any time with Twitter, but wow what a frustrating platform. The lead comments range from total insanity to a guy asking for a job, mixed with a few sorta logical comments....
Re:OpenBGPD: The OpenBSD BGP internet routing daemon on Sunday July 28, 2019 @06:51PM (#20550265)
Never heard of this one, thanks. I used quagga years ago, and migrated to bird and never really looked back. Next time bird makes me go crazy due to its somewhat bonkers config syntax I'll be checking this out!
Re:OpenBGPD: The OpenBSD BGP internet routing daemon on Sunday July 28, 2019 @04:13PM (#20549597)
I run bird as part of an anycast service, but have used openbgp with great success via pfsense. Simple, clean configs. It just works, which is pretty much the best compliment you can pay for a product of the nature.
