Re:FCC Passes Strict Net Neutrality Regulations on 3-2 Vote on Thursday February 26, 2015 @05:43PM (#9116082)
The FCC frequently stop pirate radio stations since they were not granted a license to broadcast and were causing harmful interference with those who DO have a valid license.

Please step outside your bubble and understand what the FCC does.

And a citation for you, cheers mate: http://www.fcc.gov/maps/fcc-enforcement-actions-against-pira...

If you wish to test them, please setup a pirate radio station and you will be arrested. The sentencing is not pretty, so tread lightly.

This is a bad assumption that any new competition would act differently than the status quo. More competitors would make it harder to have a solid argument of "pay me, or else", but that wouldn't stop some behind-the-scenes collusion.
Re:CREAM: the SSL attack you’ve probably never heard of on Wednesday November 12, 2014 @05:02PM (#8598549)
I know this is naive as hell, but would adding some random sleeps before returning encrypted bits make it better or worse for this particular attack?
Re:Jisp – A programmable language that compiles to JavaScript on Thursday October 30, 2014 @05:32PM (#8535949)
A word of warning, there is plenty of google brain cancer in GWT, one of my personal favorites that elicited "wtf..."s frequently in a previous occupation:

To this day I still can't fathom why someone thought it'd be acceptable to violate conventions by providing is<Type>() methods that do not return boolean results.

Re:Facebook launches Nearby Friends on Thursday April 17, 2014 @02:00PM (#7605179)
Not bad, I think this will end games of phone tag where people mention vague landmarks for friends at large events.

Due to Facebook's usage, I think this will take off. No need to convince friends unsuccessfully to install another app.

Save a few bytes.

  ;!function($){
    ...
    return this.each(function($elem, elem){
      $elem = $(elem);
      ...
    });
   ...
  }(jQuery);

Double wrapping is necessary for closure compiler to collapse variable names.
Re:Anti-Patent Troll Bill Passes The House on Saturday December 07, 2013 @11:07AM (#6866691)
Think about the absurdity of being sued for patent infringement if you were a pizza shop and your oven allegedly infringed on a troll patent. You didn't manufacturer the oven, why are you being sued?

The vendor's reputation is irreparably damaged by patent trolls who prey on customers due to the patent's apparent weakness. Sometimes corporations need justice too.
