We in the southern hemisphere are heading into winter. Not ideal
I hope no one projects COVID19 onto anyone. What a rude man. Hope he reconsiders.

Just this morning I was pondering the same thing in Elixir.

I wonder if Elixir and Crystal compete for ruby developers to pick up

He has great taste in beer.

In all seriousness I hope people of means on here donate the $100 to take his wife out to dinner. Partners of folk doing this type of work never get recognition for the work they do to enable it

Re:Setting up a home VPN server with WireGuard on Friday November 01, 2019 @02:23PM (#21422132)
Ive attempted to setup openVPN a few times and ended up giving up. Anyone know if there has been an effort to help non networking experts deploy it?
Huh me too. This is the first time someone else has described this which ive found. I like the analogy to dyslexia.

Re:A push gone wrong in the name of what, exactly? on Saturday October 26, 2019 @03:26AM (#21362270)
Knowing the code changes well and making the decision to push on or revert back cant be second guessed by arm chair observers.

And of course it shouldnt happen in the first place but hey shit does happen. No one has ever managed to figure that out, and testing isnt a silver bullet.

Cool. ARM?
Re:Ask HN: Cool stuff that's still completely unregulated? on Saturday October 05, 2019 @10:11PM (#21169379)
Interesting, but a non flag bearing ship is certainly facing less oversight than any spaceship commander.

Id also contend the spaceship is likely controllable remotely, and monitored in both location and status.

Maybe the private submarine captain trumps all

Re:Ask HN: Cool stuff that's still completely unregulated? on Saturday October 05, 2019 @09:52PM (#21169313)
International waters. Some regulations but not really enforceable. Less regulated than the air inc orbit and even the moon.

A famous movie director once said the film director is the last truely dictatorial post left. He was wrong. The captain of a vessel in international waters is.

One of the central points of the article is citing experts who refute this, and provide evidence to back that up.

Its a good article, Id recommend reading it.
