This creates a paradox as live video, as would be the case with a broadcast/video call, didn’t go through tape. The discerning viewer would pick up on that and think you’re blowing them off by playing back a pre-recorded one-sided interaction.
The effect is more sentimental when applied to older videos, but that’s only because it’s what millennials are used to.
If they want to get their pubic-facing remote monitoring jollies, why not implement ro access?
Is the title a take on the Neuromancer intro?
That’s what the government (… and most rational people) wants you to think.
Bell in Canada continues to offer only IPv4 on their fibre network. I fully expect for them to somehow crap up the transition to IPv6 by putting up CGNAT because fuck you, customer.
> Unrelated: I find it amusing that the screen they showcase looks like a very broken display panel.
Yes! Thank you. Maybe marketing is trying to normalize that appearance after the Duo-bacle.
I want to argue that there’s been 15 years of UI experimentation since then. Occasional use is okay, but should be absolutely optional. As long as we don’t all get scammed to use touch as the primary UI like we did in cars.
The cursor on mobile is unreliable. It tries to act like a touchpad on a touch screen but then reverts to a direct “point” when you try to click your virtual touchpad.
Tangentially, my hot take is that the rise of paywalls on news sites in the mid-2010s led to the growth of misinformation.
Hallucinating what might have been.
> I won’t spend a dime buying any device that can’t hit at least 90-100hz+
Sounds like you'd buy the RapidWipe 120 wipers. Much smoother sweep, but you'll go through a windshield a week.

> I can't even run a binary from one Linux distro to the other
Is this actually a thing?
Not really unfair, as the basic use case is still the same for either model.
A toilet from a hundred years ago in the same product tier serves the same function as one today. Old models were also more expensive when adjusted for inflation, but today's toilets can tackle more turds with less water.
I have a feeling the next step will be media megacorps pressuring nations to create legislation to clamp down on software/hardware enabling anonymous Linux ISO downloads and the viewing of said Linux ISOs via Plex/Jellyfin.
The Foreign Service Institute has a language difficulty rating, based on the first language of a speaker, to estimate the number of class hours needed to achieve fluency.
Learning English from Dutch is 24-30 weeks whereas from German is 36 weeks. I am assuming some degree of reciprocity but maybe not.

This is what I meant: does the ceramic crucible absorb energy as efficiently as water… or is the magnetron considered disposable in this case?
According to the other comment, it is indeed disposable.
I’m trying to understand how the magnetron doesn’t burn out. I am assuming 100% efficiency for microwave absorption?
The one-dimensional mentality of anti-intellectualism is absurd. I have heard parents outside of our school but in my community talk down French Immersion programs (versus English schooling) saying that people put their children in for the wrong reasons. I don’t know what the explicit reasons were in this case, but I am assuming that the other parent means academic overachievement.
Learning calculus or French can be beneficial, especially when the glass ceiling in certain workplaces is whether or not you’re bilingual. However, the point that’s getting missed is the metaexperience that consciously or subconsciously shapes the way the child interacts with the world later on.
“Serious” computing would be using several applications that chain together to create an end product.
Case in point: authoring academic papers. If you have a local or self-hosted Zotero collection, you will want to cite them. Any desktop platform allows you to use [word processor of choice] and Zotero together fairly seamlessly.
This is a big kludge on iPadOS where you keep switching back and forth between Pages/Word and Zotero to paste in a citation key, which then makes it untenable long-term because the attention break is too great.
I don’t understand why users even went to iOS-based devices as a daily driver for more serious computing. They need to be seen as appliances.
You wouldn’t use a Web TV and then get frustrated when you lose your magnum opus that you’d been working on the last three years.
Those forms of articles (along with Straight Dope) were the ultimate dopamine rush back then, and now it just doesn’t hit the same.
“My grandmother, she is sick. Sick and tired from paying these high prices and getting terrible service.”
The Radiotelecommunications Act in Canada (1), section 8, describes the powers of ISEC inspectors. They can request warrants to enter private dwellings, and if accompanied by peace officers and if permitted by the warrant, use force.
This was something that was highlighted during my amateur radio course almost 20 years ago.

My assumption was that pressures would be lower to help with the longevity of the air chamber, versus a more “disposable” nature of rocket equipment. I am assuming they are replaced between launches.
This is just gooning with a drivetrain.
