News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

Fuck anyone of you SpaceX fanbois. You dolts are the tech scum of the earth, but you would not realize it, b/c you are dolts.
"Dang: We are trying to do something different here" "also Dang: we have absolutely no obligation if our mostly Cali audience does an SEC" "Dang: definitely does SEC multiple times a month"
Dang: We try to do something different here. Reality: New school socialists and tech dorks tend to take over public discussion... @dang: stuff your 'do something different' in your ass. This site is nothing more than a socialist incubator for tech dorks. A thumps up / down would be way more reflective of real world emotions.
Ukraine disposed of an regularly elected president, and is instead steered now by an ex-comedian who danced for the stars.
Ukraine is a democracy the same way that Vietnam or Iraq or Kosovo are a democracy.

The comments of "we need to support Ukraine to stop Russia and further our interests" come too often from people never been to Ukraine or even Eastern Europe / the Balkans, for that matter.

Hint: i vividly remember the events of 2014, also because almost everyone i knew tried to get me to abandon my trip there that year.

And the US interest in this tragedy is exactly what?

Also: Did it ever occur to you that Ukraine played with fire holding NATO exercises on their territory, as a non-member? You always have to take responsibility for your actions, and Ukrainians pay for these now.

The US needs Stingers to defend either themselves or a current NATO member exactly how?

Because clever replies like "got news to catch up":

Hint: neither the US or NATO members are directly involved in the war between UA and RU, or any other war (yes, the US is always at war with other nations.)

US giving away billions in equipment for a foreign actor and thus creating the need to replenish stock is all on them.

Thank you for pointing out this fact
Funny to think what the US will gain tru this meddling in European affairs by though talk and providing billions in support to Zelenskys regime: even more bases outside their jurisdiction to further their global dominance, and the ones on Ukrainian territory lie right next to Russia. MAJOR gain. And on a second note ofc increased TAM for their products and services, fuelled by Ukrainian indebtness.

One can only puke thinking about that.

It is genuine in that some techy solution was suggested for some problem. This is very HN.
> I'm amazed there can be such a large spill, at a highly monitored site no less, that goes mostly unnoticed.

You would be astonished how frequently large 'spills' go unnoticed at a site like the Southern US border that should be highly monitored.

Was already the case for ICQ. (yes, it was in their ToS)

Why should people transform to Canadian wildfire smoke to stay indoors?

Was Ricarda Lang seen in the vicinity?
Bravo. I saw the HL and was immediately expecting the tech peddlers to propose a tech solution, like always.

Hint: reactors can withstand weather since ever. (reduced cooling water inflow is an issue, though.)

Because ESG.

I don't think you mean what you think.

SpaceX, despite run quite well by Shotwell, is still tied to Musk. He is known to be a micro-manqging, choleric dictator and not an engineer. Have you forgotten the recent disaster at Boca Chica? (missing flame trench / diverter)

https://nitter.net/elonmusk/status/1313952039869788173#m Everything this guy fiddles / interferes with tends to end as a fiasco.

One of Shotwell's most important tasks is to keep this guy AWAY, so he won't interfere.

"In email messages seen by the BBC, Mr Rush had previously dismissed safety worries from one expert, saying he was "tired of industry players who try to use a safety argument to stop innovation"."

Definitely Muskian vibes. I'll wait for the day Musk will use his own Dragon capsule or Spaceship...

> These are exactly the kind of immigrants any country should be desperate to have.

People of often having a cultural, religious and moral background completely different to more-or-less original value Canadians? How will that work?

Oh i guess by appeasing everybody to create that multicultural society with less & less identity of its own, just the same bland globalized aftertaste. The major Canadian cities beside Montreal and Quebec are already taken.

Hey come on 'Progressives', give me some more of your well-earned downvote ability! That's all you got!

At least in my and other countries, there seems no city with restrictions on moving in. Would solve some issues and stop making public sector, traffic worse for true locals. (HN seems to fancy a ban on Airbnbs, as if your quiet single tourist poses an issue...)

As if an ever-expanding human dwelling is desirable.

Immigration quotas for countries exist (well, at least for sensible countries), we should apply that on a regional and even local level too. And don't account for that typical Middle Eastern large family in such numbers, they shouldn't be there anyway.

I know what a paella is, i am not some Hinterwaeldler American! I would never choose such a stupid name which already has longterm, webll-established meanings elsewhere / in daily life! "Looking for paella? Well, do you mean the food, or some tech framework / database etc. du jour?"

I'll give you a hint - Very good chosen name example b/c unique, no other and especially older meanings overloaded, and a direct link to the main product functionality given: "Keycloak"

Okay, and what has this 'model' to do with paella (patella)? Another stupid project name.

It's false advertising. This can get expensive quickly.

Oh you can still observe this stance in the US these days, or maybe even more so than in past decades. I recently heard they are even getting paid reparations. You know, your personal or community economic failure has always been originating from the white man... /s

So someone making delicious food who seemed friendly to you is exactly what? Annecdata.

Even National Socialists had delicious food. So is food a classifier now? My annecdata: When i was on Barbados, the jerk and other fried chicken there was so-so, and absolutely substandard compared to what you get as a rotisserie chicken in a typical EU country. Would i go & say now that Bayans are maybe not so nice people, because their food (besides grilled fish and hot pepper sauces) is not too inspiring?

Btw one of the most popular dish of Ethopia is a sour uninspiring crepé variant (injera) with bony, oily chops (any wat). Absolute shite compared to an Hungarian or Czech goulash.

Only their coffee is tops.

Just not on this site, here you would have to lure them with free Soylent.
