Git, html+css+svg and data in json.
For most users having to mail a file to someone is way more work than having to just share a link. The cost of cloud storage is almost nothing (since email is mentioned I assume 50MB max per project). A notes app that don't sync between all devices is just a text editor to most.
I do like apps that have sensible export formats though. Having control over my data is important.
SOAP is perfect for integration between organisations (for internal communication other formats is usually better). It supports schema first in a natural way meaning as long as both parties agree on a schema nothing else really need to be shared. XML is mature and supported in all languages with code generation its more or less transparent to the dev.
WS auth is horrible though and a bearer token (and tls) in the header is definitely the way to go.
Put on some music is the cheap and easy option. Combine with a ultrasonic jammer for a robust solution.
Doing a preprocess using some pdf extraction and ocr tool and then feeding that to the big model is usually way more stable.
There is a third option. Most banks here in Sweden solve this by forcing you to show up in person (with a ID card) if you loose your password.
I get that this also is technically a 2FA bypass but the cost is extreme and its really hard to impersonate someone in real life.
orange is a subset of brown.
Lots of admin work could be automated away if the person that understands the domain did it. Excel is a great example because its really hard to do complex stuff in yet non devs do it all the time. Decent APIs and some AI could make that way easier.
Great article but the fix is Adblock! Enable adblock everywhere for your family and friends at risk. Even if an ad sometimes slips through they since its out of the ordinary they are way less likely to click.

If i did this with my e-mail i would have over 1000 in some folders.
"It’s very unlikely you will end up with a hundred categories." -the page
Exactly this will result in about 20-30 folders for most, with any real amount of documents some folders might hold 100-1000 docs.
The advise you should take from this is that forcing structure is useful. Look att large code repos for example.
Bundling code and data never causes problems...
Of course you can be more driven (there is of course a limit but most are far from it). I have done it I used to be content with where I was in life. Made decent money, family, friends and hobbies.
But I decided that I wanted more so I let my hobbies grow a bit and changed employer. Sure I'm not a million miles from where i was but I'm not in the same place.
Once I took the first steps the next got easier and I started to look for more opportunities. Find your first step, it should be small but in the right direction. Ask to take lead on something at work or push yourself in your hobby.
What I think everyone with kids should have as one of their goals is to get them one step up the ladder. Give them a slightly better chance than you had. Most successful people have successful parents, very few start from zero. My parents were middle class but I'm upper middle class.
EC2 is not really low hanging fruit. Most expect to get a ipv4 when creating an instance and many relies on that. Cheaper instances with ipv6 only is probably coming
Accually there's several ways, XSS for example.
But I agree that there's something other that's not ok. Compromised client (probably a computer) or a compromised router is my guesses.
You can get one for about 1000 euro (maybe 1100) new, about half for a used one. They cost about 100 Euro a year to service. Source: I have a used unit at home.
Most business have one here in Sweden and almost all public places like train stations, malls, hotels have one. Most taxis carry one to and can be alerted by 112 (the SOS number operators, 911 in the US) if they are close. Rural areas are the unsolved problem that these drones might help with.
Thats why I switched to plex. Being able to chromecast makes it possible to use any of my tv's not just the one that had the pc connected. I now run chromecast's only and a plex server.
GPS is not involved in this change really. Solar storms affect the magnetic field of earth to. Magnetic north is just a sensor going through software like everything else. Less risk... not more.
It really depends on the project as a consultant I have seen crazy complexity on both "sides".
Most projects backend seems to be more complex but backend also get more slack. For example if there is a DB performance problem there is usually a DB-team to help with tuning.
Front end ppl are usually more on their own, since its expected they will have easier problems. That's not always true though. Some orgs are adapting and adding css specialist and design roles to enable more technical front end devs to focus on that.
I agree, once you know the patterns and the foundation of the web new tech is not that hard to adapt to. I agree as a new dev it can feel like a bottomless pit, in the same way low level programming feels for most new devs.
That said web frontend has had a wild ride the past years. But its really starting to stabilize now, around a few core frameworks (react and angular for example). Sure there is still forks and revamps but its not the big world changing differences (like going from jQuery to react was).
Teenagers should be excluded but I agree that it would be good if it were not about money
You are just old ;)
I have not lost a file in 10years. I have a NAS with backup to the cloud, nothing fancy just a single drive NAS with automatic rolling backups. Important files go to multiple clouds.
A hack is to use a regular chromecast and a hdmi to rca/spdif adapter/splitter. Works pretty well and you can get them pretty cheap (in the ballpark of $20). But it will be more expensive than the chromecast audio unfortunatley
I think the point is if you integrate the analyzer in the workflow its hard to ignore. The ide warnings are easy to miss sometimes.
The big thing is that nuclear is more predictable. Downtime is scheduled most of the time. Wind is weather dependant and can be producing noting even if demand is high. This can be mitigated with storage like the 2 dam systems where you pump water uphill when there is a surplus (but that cost efficiency).
Well that's illegal in almost all (western) countries. A device need to have an declaration of all radio equipment inside in some form (depending on locale).
It also would be a lot harder to profit from ads when you have to pay for lte bandwidth especially with the prices in the US.
If you don't give it your wifi password it will not be smart? Its not like they come with a sim card...
I would however love a smart tv with an open stack where I can control the software.
I usually just connect the "smart tv" to the internet once a year and update the firmware (after checking the change log for useful fixes). Then I disconnect it again and use my chromecast to stream.
I don't get it? What would be an example use?
