Though I just never bothered installing Flash. If I need Flash for a site, I use Chrome (which comes with Flash embedded, I believe).

I believe she is referring to opting out of the full body scanners[1] in American airports. One can do that by telling the TSA agent that they'd like to opt out of the scanner. They will instead do a manual pat down.

Re:The web, it's for everyone on Thursday October 23, 2014 @02:21PM (#8499791)
That's a valid concern, but unrelated to JavaScript being required. Making a JavaScript web application screen reader accessible is no problem.
Re:Immutable Data Collections for Javascript on Wednesday July 30, 2014 @11:59AM (#8108977)
This isn't used internally by Facebook at this point. The author mentioned this after your post. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=8108741
Pretty fun game!

I had one issue though. I managed to type 129wpm in one round (I normally type around 105-110, this particular paragraph was easy). It told me to be allowed to use this score I had to prove I could type 117wpm on an obfuscated (think captcha) document. I was not able to do that. It's a good idea, in theory. Maybe if I'd tried a few more times I could have gotten it up there.

This is great work. The video in particular sold the idea to me.

Projects like this are really making me want to build something substantial in ClojureScript.

It's in the Mac App Store (they can't charge you again later) so it's free to download and use forever, offer expiring after one month.

I can confirm that. I really miss that feature.
Re:Your Feedback Matters – Update on Xbox One on Wednesday June 19, 2013 @06:08PM (#5908717)
What are the features the PS4 has that are missing on the Xbox One? Genuine question.
It guessed I was 10. I'm old enough to have received a BS and have had a job for quite a few years. I'm not sure why it would think that.
Re:Facebook computers compromised by zero-day Java exploit on Saturday February 16, 2013 @07:18AM (#5231269)
Firefox has one, too.

about:config, search for "plugins.click_to_play". Enable!

I use space for page down and shift+space for page up. Scrolling means tracking where I am as I go, when I hit page down I know where to start reading, the top. It feels more like reading a book.
Absolutely nothing, but I prefer when you disclaim that you've included one.
I understand your point (and agree), but a nice stout and some fancy chocolate go quite well together. :)
Re:Nokia 'Here Map' arrives at the App Store on Tuesday November 20, 2012 @09:37AM (#4809139)
Do you happen to have a source for this? I've always heard (via offhand comments, admittedly) that the deal was done and Google wasn't surprised.
Re:Ask HN: Tell us about your side projects. on Thursday November 08, 2012 @09:51AM (#4757969)
Yesterday I launched my iOS receipt management app, Simple Receipts. My goal was to make the absolute simplest app possible, as all of the (many) existing ones were complex.

By default it simply saves your receipt images to your camera roll. If you link with Dropbox, it will upload them there.

As of today it's $0.99 in the App Store. You can find it here:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/simple-receipts/id509966025?...

Building a pulley system would take some significant time and requires finding the necessary tools and resources. The bucket brigade is much simpler and immediately available.

Not nearly as much fun, though.

Re:Always “hover” before you click? Wrong. on Monday October 29, 2012 @10:34AM (#4712427)
No, this has been the case for as long as I can remember. Years, at least.
Re:Kickstarter's new team page on Friday October 26, 2012 @04:12PM (#4704022)
I'm really impressed with how smooth this is. No slowdowns on my 2009 MBP running Firefox 18.0a2 (Aurora).
Re:How cork is made on Thursday October 18, 2012 @12:16PM (#4669448)
There's a cork recycling bin at the Green Life (owned by Whole Foods) in my hometown. They don't mention what they use it for, as far as I can tell, but I'd guess they sell it somewhere.
Re:Google releases 'Field Trip' app, a location-aware guidebook on Thursday September 27, 2012 @04:51PM (#4582819)
Interesting. I thought the opposite. I watched it before I saw any information about what it was, and had no idea what it was supposed to be about in the end. I just needed a little more context at the beginning, and I think it would have been quite clear.
Re:The World's Lightest Electric Vehicle on Tuesday September 11, 2012 @09:11PM (#4508588)
I've seen a good number of people bringing longboards into coffee shops and places like that. I'd imagine it would be harder to bring it into a fancier establishment, though.
Re:Why you should quit Facebook too on Thursday September 06, 2012 @09:52AM (#4484116)
Can you go into more detail on how you use an RSS reader to consume Facebook? I've seen that you can subscribe to individual pages, is that what you're doing?
Re:Just Scroll on Friday August 31, 2012 @07:49AM (#4459231)
iOS5 - with an iPhone4S - Worked fairly well and tolerably fast, but not particularly smooth. Took a while to load initially, too.
This particular installer is a .app rather than a .pkg. I don't think there's anything that would make a .app log all of its changes.
I'm not a first timer, but I recently signed up for a developer account and went to set it up last night. I spent a few hours getting angry and trying everything I knew to make it work, until I went to the Apple Dev forums and saw a post about it.

It's so complicated that I couldn't tell if it was broken or if I was doing something wrong.

Re:Tips for Remote Unix Work (SSH, screen, and VNC) on Saturday December 17, 2011 @02:22PM (#3364889)
Be sure to read the info as you install sshfs via homebrew. Getting fuse4x working right requires a couple extra steps.
Re:Show HN: When is good time to submit a story on HN? on Friday November 18, 2011 @10:25AM (#3251984)
Very interesting!

However, I can't find any indication of what time zone you're displaying. Is it my time zone, GMT+0, or something else?

Re:Show HN: My network connection monitor for Mac on Saturday October 08, 2011 @11:17AM (#3088094)
VMWare and most applications that do this use Authorization Services. It's what pops up the dialog asking you to enter your password. Feels pretty magic to use it.
