Shopify online store editor also doesn't work in Firefox. It's a shame that Firefox is getting sidelined.

yes, GUI players come and go, cmus stays.
Re:Developers can now submit apps to ChatGPT on Thursday December 18, 2025 @12:12PM (#46315542)
It doesn't work in Firefox unfortunately. Spotify app just renders grey rectangle. It works in Chrome/Brave though. Just another example of "we only test in Chrome"/"works best in Chrome".

There is nothing original in Dept Q. It's British adaptation of Danish book and TV show.
Re:Cloudflare is down on Friday December 05, 2025 @06:31AM (#46159892)
2 days ago they had outage that affected Europe, Cloudflare seems to be going down the drain. I removed it for my personal sites.
Re:Ask HN: Is Cloudflare Down for You? on Wednesday December 03, 2025 @04:12PM (#46140181)
Down for me in Serbia (Europe).

I can't load their dashboard and I can't access my site. It says "SSL handshake failed" but my web server has valid certificate and it's up.

Seems they have some issues again and of course nothing on their status page.

You can hit the same problem with React. Circular state updates. State change->trigger useEffect->change state. I hit those when I had just started React.

Re:First attempt will be 95% garbage: 6 weeks with Claude Code on Wednesday September 03, 2025 @04:59AM (#45113643)
You got it wrong, the purpose of this blog post is not marketing Claude Code, but marketing their company. Writing about AI just happens to get more eyeballs.
Re:Linear sent me down a local-first rabbit hole on Friday August 08, 2025 @07:28AM (#44835794)
Second this. I use Linear as well and I didn't noticed anything close to "impossibly fast", it's faster than Jira for sure, but nothing spectacular.
Re:Cognitive decline can be slowed down with lifestyle changes on Wednesday August 06, 2025 @07:16PM (#44818948)
I had 2 grandparents die from Parkinson's and I would definitely pick up heroin addiction if I get diagnosed.
Re:Ask HN: Who is hiring? (August 2025) on Tuesday August 05, 2025 @06:54PM (#44805497)
The best, not sure, but it's sure the most saccharine job listing I’ve read in my whole life.
>I have no idea what their goal is

goal is to fire you (human), decrease costs and increase profits

Not surprised, this is perfect task for AI, boilerplaty code that implements something that is implemented 100 times. And it's small project, 1200 lines of pure code.

I'm surprised I took them more than 2 days to do that with AI.

What happened to Michael O. Church? I enjoyed his writings
Re:ClickHouse raises $350M Series C on Thursday May 29, 2025 @01:32PM (#44128246)
we use smallest cluster and it's $450/month, most companies probably pay much more.
Re:The UI Future Is Colourful and Dimensional on Tuesday May 27, 2025 @10:08AM (#44107179)
Yeah new icons are ugly and looks like they are ripped from Sims 1. It's just designers trying to justify their existence in the company.
Because code is small part of making successful business and usually not the bottleneck.
Same here, it's because you have third party cookies blocked.
Maybe because it doesn't work that well, I got "Proxy/VPN detected" on your page when I clicked "Test your connection" and I'm not behind proxy nor I use VPN.
Re:Shopify CEO: "AI usage is now a baseline expectation" on Tuesday April 08, 2025 @06:32AM (#43620120)
100% agree.

Their actual AI is trash, it just there to pad their resume for investors.

I tried few days ago their AI assistant in help center and admin and it hallucinated answer to my question (pointed me to non-existing setting), when I told it it doesn't exist it just returned a bit reworded answer (still pointing me to non-existing settings section).

Re:Past and Present Futures of User Interface Design on Tuesday March 18, 2025 @06:03AM (#43397530)
Use character composition. You then type those characters buy pressing compose key (I've set it to Caps Lock) and then sequence of characters. Much easier than switching keyboard layouts, and you can type other non-usual characters like °, µ, €

ø = Compose -> / -> o

é = Compose -> ' -> e

° = Compose -> o -> o

µ = Compose -> m -> u

€ = Compose -> = -> e

Debian 12 with Firefox 135.0.1 and I do get a warning.
Re:Why Clojure? on Sunday February 23, 2025 @06:44PM (#43154345)
Why did you move away from go? I don't use it, but seems like productive language, being simple, fast to compile and performant.
Re:I'm Done with Ubuntu on Wednesday February 05, 2025 @12:31PM (#42952046)
I migrated from Arch to Debian.

It just works. It's stable, I don't need to worry about breaking updates and changes anymore. I'm at peace for at least 2 years.

And all the software I care about have their own deb repos or are self updating (Firefox, Chrome, VS Code, Cursor, Signal, Slack, etc), so I always have up-to-date versions. There is flatpak as well but I really didn't have any need for it for now.

It's the best combo, stable unchanging base and up-to-date apps.

Re:No Bitcoin ETFs at Vanguard on Monday January 27, 2025 @08:45AM (#42841090)
Bitcoin is useful commodity, it's used for money laundering, sanction dodging, various criminal activity, etc. It infinitely more useful in modern world than gold for example.

Wait, so I can just open LLC and get H1B visa for it? There have to be conditions and limitations, otherwise it will be misused.

Birth rates plummeted even in Saudi Arabia and Iran, which are polar opposite of the West, so I'd say loss of "village" is tiny part of the problem.
They are still in business because 99.99% of customers are not affected by this.

I'm happy customer for years and will be even with these changes.
