The irony is thick. The dev is paying Anthropic $200 a month, but $100 a year for code-signing is extortion.
Code signing and sandboxing exists for a very good reasons (security and privacy) and it's easy enough to ship a sandboxed app.
The README has plenty of Claude-isms too.
I think the most charitable explanation for this is that it's because polarizing content (aka ragebait) gets views/plays, which the ranking algorithms directly optimize for.
Also, this isn't a new phenomenon. If you're interested, I'd recommend reading Shoshana Zuboff's 2018 book: The Age of Surveillance Capitalism.
Kimi is the closest Chinese equivalent of Anthropic.
The hackers must be German (Datenschutz). :)
I think they could've redacted using a small model like OpenAI's privacy-filter model instead of rewriting.

Perhaps share QR codes with links. :)
People have been astroturfing sites like Wikipedia, Reddit etc, well before LLMs were a thing.

Bad for humans in general, good for hucksters and con artists. Net negative for humanity.
IMO, it's similar to what's happening with code. People have been shipping sloppy code and fake news forever. It's just that the cost of doing these things has fallen off a cliff.
Lobbying is corruption with a layer of indirection.
If a life is only worth $20m, by their own calculus: saving > 50k lives is worth more than Anthropic. Tobacco causes ~8m deaths a year, so banning tobacco (easy intervention) should be worth ~160 Anthropic sized labs. :D
I'm the dev behind the Private LLM app, which was the first on-device LLM app on the App Store. Don't download it yet. I'm currently finalizing a brand new v2 rewrite which can run models that the copycat app (locally) cannot run, like Bonsai 2 27B, Gemma 4 12B etc.

This! We went to a pediatric dentist with my kid on Monday, with a referral from another dentist, both private. After small talk, their first proper question was: "Do you have insurance?". Before I could respond, my wife responded affirmatively. Insurance here in Ireland means private insurance. After an x-ray, we were presented with a menu of treatment options ranging from around €2k to €5k.
Later I requested the clinic to share the x-ray with me and consulted with another pediatric dentist from another EU country. His assessment was completely different, and recommended very minimal intervention.
The intro video looks very well done. How did you go about making it?
There's nothing wrong with them wanting to capture some economic value, but the way they're monetizing it is a slippery slope of incentives.
OTOH, I trust the benchmarks from Apolinario's HF space that you've linked to.
Interesting! I tried it with unordered Markdown lists (both nested and single-level) and I couldn't reproduce it. Would you mind sharing a small repro? In some ways I guess the brittleness is to be expected since IIUC, it uses regexes under the hood.
That used to be the case until about a year ago, but isn't the case anymore at least here in Ireland. I'm taking them to small claims court because they closed my account without a refund on a legitimate return. Their customer support has gone from excellent to nearly nonexistent. Fortunately for me, I've kept all the receipts.
Ledger has had three data leak incidents: once in 2020, a software supply chain attack in 2023 and another data leak in 2026. This latest one is the fourth.
Even if one were to ignore the latest incident, which arguably isn't their fault, the first three incidents make up a pretty bad security track record.
How a French (EU based) company is still in business after all of this, is an indicator of selective enforcement of EU privacy laws (GDPR, etc).
I wonder how much of it has been earmarked for astroturfing on HN and X? :D
TBF, Jan Marsalek (the Wirecard guy) is Austrian, although Wirecard was a German company.
