Amazon has to pay ~70% revenue share on models they host.
Re:Anthropic's growth just flattened (really)

They said distillation was 5-7% of revenue. The slowdown is much larger than that.
Re:The SEC Should Block Anthropic's IPO to Protect the Public
on Monday November 02, 2026 @06:38PM (#50345807)
The only real argument here is that Anthropic has Q3 numbers but they aren't included in the prospectus because they may be bad. Delaying the IPO by a few weeks would solve that problem.

This goes away with isolcpus. Have you tried that?

AFAIK the Internet in France is private infrastructure that has already been paid for by its customers.

Putting aside whether this is a good idea or not, this rate is like 1,000%. The tax is 10x more than bandwidth itself costs.

It was reported that Apple offered $75M for Be and almost $500M for NeXT and in retrospect those seem like entirely fair valuations. One was a mature OS and the other was a demo of an OS.

Pensions and social security are indexed to inflation. 401ks should beat or match inflation.

In the US wages have outpaced inflation. Obviously that's an aggregate measure so it's not true for everyone.

Fixing the DAO hack wasn't done via a 51% attack. In most/all blockchains protocol changes aren't done by simple majority vote.

Most crypto assets are operated by a smart contract that controls every transfer. So the contract can decide to not perform certain transfers.

non-skittish hosting providers are uniformly also unprincipled
Yeah, this is what I'm saying (although absolute free speech is itself a principle). I wish it weren't so, but you're 99% right that the cloud isn't really usable for anything outside the Overton window, whether it's far left, far right, erotica, pro-suicide, extreme trolling, etc.
However if you're using Cloudflare you can "hide" your backend hosting provider and they usually won't kick you out because they don't take any reputation hit. So I still suspect a mainstream cloud (with good off-cloud backups) could work for AO3.
Re:Archive Of Our Own down for maintenance for 2 to 4 weeks
on Thursday October 29, 2026 @04:13PM (#50295146)
There are a few "Nazi" hosting providers that could probably handle AO3. Maybe AO3 couldn't handle them.
