This is why the right hates the left.
Open source medical devices! Is this a first? There is potential for some genuine health concerns where QA and security are involved.

Is there a sensible way to log IoT traffic? I'm paranoid not just of who may be trying to access IP cameras, but what they may be sending back to their manufacturer.
Can the USGS conduct some seismic tests along the US-Mexico border that would identify these types of man-made changes?
We need to stop consuming these food "studies". Every day, fat/carbs/coffee/wine is good/bad/cancerous/prevents cancer in a "new study".

I had thought it indicated clickthrough by Feedly users. How could they have overall clickthrough numbers?

A German is given the title and those are the first two names you choose to use?

Re:Kindle Paperwhite on Wednesday June 17, 2015 @06:42PM (#9735755)
I want to be able to use it for RSS feeds as well. Even native Pocket or Evernote integration would be great.

Are you referring also to Columbia House and BMG in the 90s? Sign up, get seven CDs for a buck, then you forget to cancel and they send you "A Barry Manilow and Kenny G Christmas" for $18 plus S&H.

This still happens online with an X-day trial of something, fine print says to cancel or be charged $XX.XX/mo. Good luck figuring out how to cancel, though.

Re:What’s the Matter with Ebooks? on Thursday March 26, 2015 @02:13PM (#9271895)
This is a good point. I love my Kindle and I read fiction and non-fiction on it regularly. However, anything technical I vastly prefer print. I cannot really say why, other than traversing a technical book is just "easier" to flip around with versus a linear progression like other books.
Reply to the emails that, maybe once they start respecting employees and hiring developers that respect themselves.
Re:Firefox Developer Edition on Monday November 10, 2014 @11:07AM (#8584301)
For some reason, I convinced myself that Valence was going to allow us to change the engine to Webkit and Trident as well as Gecko. While testing iOS and Android is awesome, this would have been downright incredible.
Re:Real-time visualization of DDoS attacks on Monday October 27, 2014 @02:33PM (#8517237)
While this looks cool, what is a practical application of this?
$380+ for a ticket, you need to travel to the remote area, bring every single thing you'd need, pack it all back out, etc etc. Doesn't sound accessible to everyone, even without the millionaires.
"Hello! SWAT team! May we come in? Good day to you sir. We have reports that you may be manufacturing illegal narcotics and in possession of firearms in violation of your parole. Would you kindly lie down upon the floor so we can ensure that it is safe to enter your abode?"
Re:Keurig competitors crack company's DRM code on Friday August 29, 2014 @02:34PM (#8243808)
I think it is fantastic. Companies lately are moving toward profits over customer loyalty, which seems counter-intuitive. Keurig et al need to learn a lesson from this and stop the silly non-sense. They have already cornered the at-home brewing market (or close to it I would assume) and personally have never seen a non-Keurig branded K-cup that they are so worried about. There is no need to get greedy.

Re:React Editor Enabled by Default on Wednesday July 23, 2014 @02:02PM (#8075865)
Am I being stupid/paranoid by not knowing if I want to trust React because it was created by Facebook?

could that be any less informative?

Let me put on my tinfoil hat for a second.

Two companies that love user data are making "languages" for us to write our applications with (Facebook with Hack and React, Google with Dart and Go)

The NSA worked backdoors into RSA encryption. Could the Facebook/Google compilers provide a similar backdoor for them to syphon data?
