Re:Price Elasticity and the iPhone's Impact on Air Freight Markets
on Thursday May 07, 2015 @11:53AM (#9505936)
The article mentions that for their purposes 1/6 of 6 planes is the same as 1 full plane. However that is not the case. The remaining 5/6 of each of those planes is restricted to cargo with a high volume to weight ratio. So in reality, needing 6 planes does effectively restrict the cargo of six planes not just one. This in turn causes a much greater disruption than what the articles calculations suggest. For example those needing to ship similar freight to the phone (other electronic companies) would not be able to use the remaining space.

The "presets" are less than pleasant overall. They are missing a nice warm color for reading. Colors are either too prison-like or too red.

Re:IOS 8 Concept for Interactive Notifications
on Tuesday December 31, 2013 @07:39AM (#6990182)
iOS7 revolves around the concept of panes. The app, home screen, background, and notifications are all on separate panes to give a user a sense of context of where they are. This defeats that completely by muddying the waters and mixing panes. Like others have said, link bait, no design concept, there was really no thinking involved, someone just threw a video together of iOS8 with an added button.
Re:Dell Ultra Sharp 24" 4K display

I would have to disagree. Displays have shifted to black bezels to facilitate the disappearance of them. When looking at a bright object, darker colors fade away, helping shift focus to the center (the screen) and reduce distraction. Giving a high-end screen a silver bezel illustrates how little they care about the end user experience. It ultimately is distracting. What is even worse in this case is that the case is reminiscent of the cheap monitors they've been selling to businesses for years.
