Re:Is the Music Business Collapsing? on Saturday October 31, 2026 @11:38AM (#50317154)
I don't know what's my personal impact but since I discovered Finamp, I've been listening to my personal collection for a few months now and open spotify once a month instead of daily usage.

But I won't cut it because it's a family plan.

I also guess I'm getting older because I find music less interesting and less in phase with my taste and the Spotify algorithm is either bad in finding new stuff I like or always pushing the same 20 songs that I've listened too much.

The one that created the European Union
On which criteria? Since Margaret Thatcher said she wanted her money back, and even more since Brexit, UK is geographically in Europe, just like Switzerland or Ukraine, but definitely hasn't the "European Mindset", UK is its own thing as they've always wanted to be.
And what about when you, as a US citizen, are in India?
Re:Today, we hacked what we'd set out to hack: the iPhone on Friday October 23, 2026 @12:33PM (#50211638)
Eli5 the iMessage video? They open a file that calls their webapp?
Anyway, for the same reason, just because you make an iOS only app doesn't make you an "apple guy".
It seems like there's no limit on that because you're more valuable to them as a potential product for their ad reselling business that whatever price you may bring not to be a product. I'm sure luxury companies would be interested to show you ad if the subscription was 2000$/month
Please don't mix stereotypes, it's not because I own a Mac mini that I'm an apple guy. Macos is mandatory if you want to publish an app on the app store.
Re:Maybe There Was an Egg Cartel After All on Monday October 19, 2026 @12:31PM (#50154434)
Sometimes it all boils down to someone saying "what if" and trying something and seeing if it sticks. I guess the avian flu was a good excuse to hide the crime just like what happens in die hard 3 with the distractions of bomb in schools.
Yes, I go to school, then I get a job, then my taxes pay for the school for my neighbours kids, they get and job, their taxes pay for the school aso. But, this chain is broken if the ones benefitting from public services don't give anything in return to finance those public services. A billionaire that made their fortune did it with the help of public services but usually, they tend to try to pay the less taxes possible.
So basically, we now can use our own AI agent to speak with businesses' AI agent for requesting dark patterned cancellations?
It will only work if we start buying subscription for newspaper and magazines again. People have to eat so it's either government paid, ad-paid, subscription paid or propaganda paid.

Bike lines don't send Canadian money to a startup in the USA so I guess bike lines don't have financial means to lobby the government.
I read somewhere else that they activated a quick defrost function and as those were industrial fridge, it seems they can heat to 50C

They don't charge you for your own runner but they wanted to. The downtime hasn't really impacted me and not really a reason for me to leave github, but making me pay for using my own infrastructure would quickly encourage me to leave github.
Excellent novel but, as a non native English speaker, the analogy with the Third assassin was puzzling, Shakespeare wasn't on the cursus when I learned English.

Keepass on pc, keepass2android on mobile and the file is stored on onedrive. I'm starting to use macos so I'll install onedrive on it. Now onedrive's reputation is Microsoft's but I haven't heard of massive security breaches like many online password manager had.
How soon till someone hack into a system to implant fake proofs so that a trial can be canceled because the system was hacked Ferris-Bueller style?
> data totalled between two and three terabytes.

That's lot of data for a list of employees.

And we mustn't compare it with the ecological impact of using gas in a democracy instead of nuclear under a communist regime

I understood the machine = the Quincy Jones–Michael Jackson–Rod Temperton triangle
Re:If You Knew God Exists, Wouldn't You Become a Priest? on Sunday September 20, 2026 @11:33AM (#49776871)
Why even call it "god" if it was created by humans?

Should I call my kids "god" because they're smarter than me?

Re:Disney+ changes subscriber agreement to allow ads on every plan on Saturday September 19, 2026 @04:33PM (#49769886)
A few days ago I watched a few music clips on YouTube to remind me of my MTV youth. There was an ad between every song, sometimes 60 seconds ad for pickup trucks or makeup, each promising happiness with their products. I felt like I was in this scene in idiocracy https://youtu.be/hj7c0J_V1L8. It's now clear that ads are legal brain malware.

Wouldn't panic buying increase the problem for everyone else? Just like toilet paper in 2020?

TIL. I'll modify my firmware tonight.
So capitalism is also your enemy?
Maybe have something on the plate that prevents reading from certain angles? There was a ticket dismissed in Quebec a few years ago for an "unreadable plate" because the car had a bike rack hiding the plate but the ticket had the plate number on it so it was not unreadable
I should search for similar articles when lead was banned in paint or CFC in aerosol cans.
The simulator doesn't have a camera. The android emulator allows to configure the camera and use a picture, it's very handy to test your qr/barcode reader without needing to use a physical device. Maybe this also allows to use an image as camera?
