It's possible that hospitals were claiming something like a car crash victim with COVID as a COVID death for extra funding, making actual total deaths less due to COVID than reported, meaning what he said was true, even while the hospital is full of people with COVID, possibly including that very car crash victim.

Other official facts of the time period included 1. standing in a restaurant without a mask on is almost terrorism and 2. sitting at a restaurant without a mask on is fine.

Just beat them to death.

Jury nullification.

Or vote, or whatever the site rules permit, good luck with that.

"Immune. Immune, immune, immune."

You forced me to not actually read the dissent but to CTRL+F "immune,", because I couldn't believe a person/demigod serving in such an incredibly honorable and powerful position would ever write a rant with the same word 4 times in a row.

All knowledge/predictions are encoded as a chain of probabilities that something is true, otherwise, what else is it? My brain calculates 0.8 * 0.3 * 0.5 * 0.6 in order to make a 3-pointer, but Michael Jordan's brain ... well his mitochondria does a triple back flip and inverts the voltage into a tachyon particle.
Your question is a trap. Either you dispute that money=power or you're just waiting to capture my rant on video and find some flaw in it. Good day.

Worse if the abandoners are the good ones to be replaced by more fire starters.

Regarding the "pedagogy", my favorite method of learning is straightforward problem solving: http://blog.sigfpe.com/2006/08/you-could-have-invented-monad...

If you wanted to have state with pure functions, you would, according to DRY, be compelled to write the bind operator. You wouldn't have known to call it a monad or why some basement theoretician likens it to a burrtiofunctor, but you nevertheless would have made the obvious coding solution.

Is this possible for rotation without a PhD in geometry or algebra?

Re:U.S. inflation rate rises to 13-year high of 5.4% on Wednesday October 13, 2021 @11:52AM (#28853746)
Velocity is fake.

Money is valued according to totalStuff / totalMoney. If there is one item of food left on the entire planet, everybody is about to starve to death. If you print enough money to quadruple the supply of money, everybody will still starve to death, and the item of food is effectively costs 4x the number of dollars. You can argue the cost is already infinite in such a scenario, so 4x infinity is still infinity, nevertheless, abstractly if everybody owns a Corolla, then you 100x the money supply, the Corollas do not turn into Ferraris. Houses do not get built out of thin air. Real things have real value when given effort by real people, and money is abstractly a layer above that. Printing money does not print food, mine metals, or construct aircraft. If it DID, we could colonize the entire universe by simply leaving the printer on for long enough.

It's not common sense that printing money "causes" inflation, it's directly given by the ratio of money to real things. Printing IS inflation. Again, if printing was NOT inflation, then printing would increase REAL value and we would colonize the entire universe by printing.

Back to velocity. You temporarily tricked some people. They go and buy food instead of dying. Now there's less food in reserve. Now food is more expensive. This converges the price to the amount printed as in the above logic. So where did we get this free interim benefit where starvers can buy things? Prices weren't initially raised, so the people that would've had more food incorrectly gave it to other people for less than they should have until the adjustments kicked in. Therefore, printing money can have the effect have stealing from businesses if they're slow to react. Or, printing money can have the effect of stealing from everybody that's not that business if the printed money goes right to that business. Give an asset company 500 trillion dollars and suddenly every house in America is spoken for. There's no "inflation" depending on which idiot you ask, but everybody who doesn't own that company will die of weather or infinite rent -> starvation soon enough.

At the end of the day, printed money is only fair if given to everybody equally, which is equivalent to doing absolutely nothing in a world where business immediately adjust prices in response to the fake change in money supply. Otherwise it's trickery against the interests of people who set prices incorrectly, and especially against people incapable of setting prices because they are mere "consumers", unless all printed money goes only to consumers, but then it still solves nothing by definition of consumer.

What the above is alluding to is that being a consumer rather than a producer by definition means they have no or negative value. A farmer adds value, a waiter subtracts value. More people are alive because a farmer can feed himself and others, whereas a waiter is replaced by a dude walking 12 feet and getting his own food, or skipping the restaurant entirely and cooking himself with stuff he or the farmer grew. Every business that isn't multiplying food output, healthcare output, etc. vs. their cost is effectively a drain. Restaurants would have to bring enough "joy" (utility) to make up for the drain that simply shuffling food around inefficiently and placing it on oval plates next to candles in dark rooms and charging 70 unitless (if it's marked at all) currency thingies for a leaf of non-GMO vegan-enhanced anti-racist triple-vaccinated gluten-free organic hydroponic soy lettuce. While I typed that, 500 Africans starved to death.

The modern economy is just a ruse that tricks people into having "jobs" rather than owning all of America's farmland (Bill Gates).

The fix is four fold: 1. become a farmer 2. end Bill Gates ... legally 3. end BlackRock et al ... legally 4. end the fed ... legally

edit: Six fold: 5. end all central banks 6. end all central-central banks

93% are men, 7% women.

Our criminal justice system is designed to incarcerate men.

edit: High five to sibling comment.

That sounds entirely reasonable. I'm just wondering if anyone would ever take the side of a mere gamer.
Pay me commission.

Most businesses that pay salary operate like this:

Worker picks 5000 apples, coworkers picks 300. Business pays them each 1 apple. Both start picking 1 apple, business puts them on improvement plan. (China wants apple pickers to struggle.) Also, please write a 13-page paper detailing how your soul is mine, I'm your daddy, and any food you might try to grow on your own property is actually mine (Google).

It's not quite as simple when you consider time invested. Messing with someone's lifetime of training with ever-changing EULAs is something I haven't seen talked about. But similar to the damage to pro soccer players if, officially from now on, the soccer ball was twice as big, the fields half as big, and each player was required to swear allegiance to China, a sudden change that kills the careers of pro e-sport players is not as simple as "well don't buy the game". Well I already bought the game and practiced it for 10k hours, and now you're declaring I can't do it anymore.

'It's an important skill to independently discern the likely from the unlikely on your own, but any idea repeated often enough becomes "truth", and it's an important function of society to recognize fake truths and purge them.'

Prove that an important function of society is fake truth purging. And define truth. How big are the fake truths, how much damage do they cause, and how expensive is it to disprove them? If a young child claims that the temperature of a hydrogen atom 52 light years away is 0.1K, but in reality it is 0.01K, shall we:

A. censor the child to stop the spread of misinformation B. print 8 billion flyers to correct anyone who may have overheard the child C. put teams of MIT scientists to run experiments to determine the most recent temperature of the atom D. ignore it E. claim it's 0K according to god's will

In a more practical example, most people are probably split between C, D and E. The C people might land on the moon sooner, the E people might be more fulfilled. D is watching their son's soccer game. Who is "right"?

Acquiring the true "truth" has a cost, and that cost may be too high, and until we have a proper document from god detailing the worth of each person, we can't know who should live and who should die. If we don't produce enough food, somebody will starve. Who should starve? Perhaps the person with the highest metabolism, to spare as much food as possible. Perhaps the dumbest, to ensure future generations aren't crippled and the problem gets solved quicker. Perhaps the meanest, to spare future conflict. Or perhaps future conflict is good, to weed out the weak. "Truth" might mean maximizing human potential, which could imply minimizing human "drag". Spray peanut dust in stadiums! Shoot people who wear glasses! Gene edit everyone to be 9 feet tall! Kill everyone and create and feed a world-spanning singular ultra-brain (skynet?), for _IT_ shall determine "truth".

The word "truth" almost has a political bias to it, belonging to the party of science-people. I say that with a straight face as someone familiar and trusting of mathematics. It's great that we can build F-22s and nukes with it, but, maybe we were better off worshipping Zeus. Actually, people are a relatively new thing, and the main spreaders of "lies". Perhaps the universe was "truer" before people came around. Perhaps birthing a child is to "lie".

And what is the endgame? What happens after our perfect system of rationalism solves every known fact and theoretical possibility in the entire universe? Did we win? Is our final score 42?

Truth is a lie.

But they also exert more force onto the earth. If you drop the sun onto the earth, for example...
Because anonymous percentages can be interpreted as the likelihood that you yourself are those things, like a sort of quantum mechanical cat paradox. I believe it's also how our "collective consciousness" and language kind of works (you're outputting what you hope they'll be inputting based on what people typically will input). Basically, if anonymous stats show 99.9999% of people watch child porn, I can now accuse you beyond a reasonable doubt (roughly) of watching child porn. Or like if it become known that 80% of people were trans, I might stop going on Tinder. While I don't know _you_, given a bunch of data, I know "people like you", "your people", or whatever other phrase that half of people find offensive and the other half find accurate. Black people be black, almost by definition. Jews are Jews. I'm now seen as a racist white male KKK incel Trump supporting basement dwelling... Wait, we're getting off topic. The point is, society retardation aside, data will only ever be used to judge you to the best of its ability, and rarely in a way that will let you bang more hot women, but more frequently in a way that raises the prices of what you want or need or places you in jail. Cops will park where people "tend" to speed. They didn't know _you_ would be speeding, but ... they did. You are betrayed by your peers to evil forces.

If the people were given anonymous data that showed that 100% of the 2008 bankers were going on a cruise departing tomorrow, we could easily fix things. Well, that's what _they're_ doing to us.

Seriously why is the discussion anything but delete all tech immediately and bomb silicon valley?

Too late, the ML just flagged me as being anti-ML. I'll probably be assassinated soon.

There's an extremely large difference between tricking someone into thinking they're working for the other team by grafting on a pre-calculated memory of them being a Chinese agent for the last 20 years rather than ... making their finger move and saying that gave them a memory of their finger moving.
Why is everybody so afraid of violence? Do you think politely discussing on HN the pros/cons of King of Earth owning 79 oil rigs is going to get him to see the error of his ways? That he should stop funding F-35s to bomb his neighbors while he bangs 42 Swedish models per day? "Please sir, that's bad of you."
Re:Uber will start deactivating riders with low ratings on Wednesday May 29, 2019 @11:44PM (#20048185)
I skimmed but is every comment in here trying to optimize how to implement a social credit system, rather than expressing terror at a social credit system?

Quit posting and get back to coding surveillance AIs, the sooner Uber will self-drive-arrest us to the Ministry of Love, while running over statistically fewer people (in terms of count * credit...).

Once Uber Eats takes over, and the whole world's food supply is now based on Social Credit Drones, if you say something like "I don't like women", you will die of starvation. This is the utopia you're all building.

Please stop with tech.
