Re:StackOverflow now gets fewer than 1000 questions a month on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @08:20PM (#50282796)
And how much was AI trained on their data? That's the sad part. Nobody asking new questions, so not much more for AI to train from.
Re:The U.S. Power Grid on Sunday October 25, 2026 @08:59PM (#50237674)
There's a board game with this theme: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_Grid

I've played it and enjoyed it.

Wait until you see how non-Apple hardware innovates... that Apple then copies.
Re:How Tabasco Became the World's Hot Sauce on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @12:52PM (#50090800)
An oyster with 2-3 drops of Tabasco is just the perfect amount of heat.
Re:I let an AI run my startup for a week on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @07:23AM (#50085927)
And how long until you realize there were mistakes?
In firefox it is Swedish on the left and English on the right.
Re:House with 15m underground tunnels for sale for 300k on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @09:20AM (#49992429)
So you just go digging under neighbours properties? What about underground infrastructure?
Firefox has a built in VPN now... give it a try.
Canada actually has quite a lot of domestic production across the country. BC and Ontario are the main producers and have many wineries.
Re:Why is the liver so weirdly regenerative? on Friday September 25, 2026 @09:19AM (#49844253)
Getting "old" is a recent and tiny sliver of human evolution. It's only been the last 100 or so years that we've really started to push the boundaries of what the body is capable of and our biology has never really had a chance to deal with it and "develop" a solution.
Re:How do Traffic Signals Work (2019) on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @08:16AM (#49800031)
Every time I see an intersection fallback to 4 way stops, traffic slows to a crawl. Roundabouts are the true answer.
Re:IKEA made a mod for Skyrim [video] on Monday September 14, 2026 @08:09AM (#49695506)
Ok, now that I rewatch the video (I lost interest pretty quick), Matt Berry is the minor role... I thought the reference was to the main voiceover.
A lot of vehicle manufacturers don't even give you access to their repair/diagnostic software even if you want to pay.

Tesla for example lets you pay to access their diagnostic software, so why is John Deere the bad guy here?

Re:IKEA made a mod for Skyrim [video] on Saturday September 12, 2026 @09:07AM (#49671966)
That is not Matt Berry's voice.
Re:Eating Fruit Skins on Friday September 11, 2026 @04:42PM (#49665067)
Banana peel oleo saccharum... you can add it to drinks and cocktails for a punch of banana.
Re:Antiquated HTML Snippets and Artefacts on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @11:04AM (#49611401)
Unexpected ending.
Re:The Luxuries in Life on Saturday September 05, 2026 @05:35PM (#49580924)
I can't do boring. I've had bouts of time with really not much to do (pre-kids) and it really starts to pick at my brain as to what am I really doing with my life.
Re:The Largest Electric Aircraft Just Flew [video] on Thursday September 03, 2026 @09:45PM (#49559519)
So what do regular aircraft do when they run out of fuel? They require a forced landing. Aircraft fly with a buffer of fuel though to avoid such situations, so why can't an electric aircraft fly with a similar buffer on it's range? ie. Always fly less than the current charged range of the aircraft.
Re:Muse Spark 1.3 on Wednesday September 02, 2026 @07:38PM (#49544085)
Well, all the LLMs are being trained on previous pelicans, so they look the same.
Re:Hang on to Your Firefox on Tuesday September 01, 2026 @08:24PM (#49530197)
My data is google too and I own a pixel phone, but I only use Firefox and my google data is perfectly accessible using it.
I've been using Firefox since the beginning and will continue using it. I only use Chrome for occasional testing, but close to 100% of the time, everything works in Firefox unless an overzealous add-on breaks a page and then I simply disable it to get going again.

I'm always so shocked to see so many ads when I see people using Chrome or I have to use it for something myself.

Re:Black hole singularity is a surface not a point on Tuesday August 25, 2026 @09:58PM (#49443253)
If it signifies the end of time, then all the stuff in the black hole would need to no longer exist no? If anything is happening in the black hole, then time is still progressing, so nothing must be all that exists?
Re:HTML Can Do That on Thursday August 20, 2026 @01:50PM (#49377864)
<details> is still not animatable?
Re:Grok Bot on Tuesday August 11, 2026 @11:00PM (#49267365)
So why didn't you just do it manually? Why use an agent in the first place?
There's also the petroyuan [1]

[1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petroyuan

Thanks for the tip. Didn't know this was added.

I generally open the HN comment link, then click the article link, read it, then click back to read the comments.

I'll see if this split view feature works better for me though, but I think I'd prefer a horizontal split instead of vertical.

Medical professionals can also use fentanyl among other drugs that aren't legal for recreational use.
Re:Firefox Containers Preview on Friday July 24, 2026 @09:35PM (#49043677)
Sure you can. Firefox will treat each open profile as it's own "app/window instance" in a way, so if I want to use my "A" profile, it's running everything under that in it's own window and my "B" profile in another window, etc.
Re:Is this the end of the once-mighty GoPro? on Saturday July 18, 2026 @04:01PM (#48961744)
GoPros (at least the early generations) required a special housing for use in water. My first GoPro was a 2 I believe and I bought it for scuba and it was terrible. Then the newer models came out promising better performance for diving, so I upgraded... and it was terrible as well. Gave up on GoPros after being sucked in twice and not getting the results I was hoping for. It was ok for other things, but anything involving water was not great.

I believe things eventually got sorted out for water use, but I was no longer a customer.

Re:How Donkey Kong Toppled Atari on Thursday July 09, 2026 @08:37AM (#48844933)
I fired up DK in mame after the King of Kong documentary came out and ended up playing quite a lot as I recalled as a kid having a very difficult time getting anywhere in the game. It was fairly satisfying getting through all the main stages for the first time.
