This landing page smells like AI slop. I hate it not because it's AI generated, but the fact that reading more doesn't give me any further understanding.
>Firefox Enterprise. Different at the core. Stronger because of it.
What's this even means
This article started series of intertwined blog post reading, and I love it. It's so sad knowing that all Sun blog is not there anymore, I enjoyed Jonathan Schwartz post back at the time.
There are many ways simpler to achieve this, easier if the coding agent support sub-agent (which mostly do out of the box).
Eg. On opencode there's explorer subgagent that we can set to use lower level model. Many people even use haiku level model for this.
VScode is so much similar with Eclipse IDE back around 2010s. 7 out of 10 IDE was based on it, and their look and feel awere kinda similar.
Probably same public cloud or CDN in front of them.
Anyone still opening distrowatch.com? Another classic
For anyone saying it's just proxy, It's not. It's a big distribution channel, that so far benefiting all sides.
a place for inference partner to sell token, for new {players / labs / model} to get exposure and for consumer to discover.
The free token also doesn't hurt, given you understand the caveats.
What part of github that's so sticky?
For me it's action and PR history.
I can imagine the massive growth they're in right now, old assumptions are breaking down, many things need to be rethought.
That's why personally i don't hate them with all of this saga. But they need to work faster in terms of product decisions and technology.
1000% agree. I would say AI generated readme is full soup of information but doesn't bring much value to what's intended.
Readme should introduce the project value, the authors taste and how to use it. Too much info, no body will read, well ai agent may read them tho.
In this kind of moment, I really wished hardware manufacturing and demand situation is in much state.
Imagine this can be accessible by everyday people with only 6 months hardware market gap.
The societal impact would be much bigger.
So far SDD (Spec Driven Development) with openspec hit the right balance for me, the Workflow is not too heavy while execution still churning good result given the spec is done well.
GigaOm was one of the early publications that my younger self enjoy to follow, it was a good formative years. Later I knew when it got acquired that the OM of GigaOm was from its founder.
rest in peace
Totally agree witg the general assessment.
The biggest problem with Z.ai model for a long time is not quality, but the inference speed and general capacity availability.
Hopefully with this recent hype, there will be more provider on openrouter for 5.2.
I'm so impressed with their support, very proactive and easy to reach. Whenever I had issues, they're always there to help.
They could just call it anything else and left the existing user alone. I mean they have gemini CLI, which I would say a better product.
It's not even good, honestly.
I was using it for couple weeks before dropping that 2 months ago. The model was not good and slow, the harness was not good, the IDE was subpar vscode clone.
If IDE still important for your Workflow, Trae of Cursor offer much better interface, harness and plan.
I want a good AI integration with Firefox.
The current chatgpt shim is horrible, something more refined would be nice.
Funny that I thought the biggest improvement of PS5 is actually crazy fast storage. No loading screen is really gamechanger. I would love to get xbox instant resume on Playstation.
Graphic is nice but not number one.
I've been using it for couple years now, it gives me feeling of stability even when moving across devices.
Now what to do? Android apps is rarely a thing that you download once and use for multiple years.
For just another chromium skin, I prefer vivaldi as it has more traditional offerings than brave. While having more customizable ui.
Enjoyed the article.
How do you compare to ccache as this is my go to cache library. Well the need is mostly on high traffic endpoints, so LRU it's.
The vibe of AI discussions was so much different with today's (or at least for the past 2.5 years at least).
It's quite surreal how things moved so fast
I would say compute and storage separation is the way to go, especially for hyperscaler offering ala aurora db/cosmos/alloy. And later more opensource alternatives will catch up.
Ty will have lower barrier of entry, similar to the early days of Typescript.
I'm curious to see which way the community will lean to.
I noticed that Sonnet 4 likes to use code search tool in cursor. Probably giving model option of tool to use is not bad thing to do.
Working with AI centric IDE on the mature codebase needs different skill set that I suspect related to people management. As the pattern would be describing a problem well, making a good plan, delegate and giving feedback.
On the other side, getting a good flow is not trivial. I had to tweak rules, how to describe problem, how to plan the work and how to ask the agent. It takes time to be productive.
Eg. Asking agent to create a script to do string manipulation is better than asking them to do inplace edit. As it's easier to debug and repeat.
Not really my case. Found that Codebase with good code benefit more with LLM, but it's not the prerequisite.
I just rewrote 300ish advanced PostgreSQL queries to mysql queries. The process is not magical, but it will take me 1 week rather than 3 days. Now I'm on testing phase, seems promising.
The point is if we can find a work to work along with the agent, can be very productive.
