Re:I Returned My iPhone Duo on Friday October 30, 2026 @11:13AM (#50305067)
Very detailed and insightful thanks.

> I think preferences will heavily depends on lifestyle.

Exactly this. I held one at a store for about 30 seconds and it became immediately obvious it wouldn’t fit my lifestyle. Baby held in one arm, phone in the other, no go from the start lol.

The AppImage section mentions something about FUSE but there’s no mention of it anywhere else in the README. What’s that about?
Re:A farewell to Arc browser on Sunday October 25, 2026 @05:38AM (#50229754)
Yeah, makes sense.

> I find it odd Arc has AI garbage when Dia was supposed to be their AI browser.

Arc existed long before Dia, and had AI shoved into it when LLMs exploded, then the company decided to go all-in on an AI browser, Dia, and orphaned Arc...

Re:Alibaba hikes DeepSeek V4 Flash 0731 output prices by 230% on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @05:43AM (#50178132)
It’s ok, we won’t need to pay for your services too if AI is that good and just get the output directly from AI.

I just hope by then that AI consumers are as good at shopping as we are or the economy will suffer…

> > I built

I assumed it was Claude taking credit for it since it wrote the whole post anyway.

The emptied office and shops and restaurants can be turned into data centers!

TIL. Thanks for that!

Or not…

Re:Telling a Computer to Do Things on Sunday September 20, 2026 @02:52AM (#49773153)
Nice article about actually learning stuff and putting this knowledge to use together. Not with AI but with one’s own brain.
Orion also does it right.

Every other browser aren’t using macOS native UI therefore are wrong in this environment. But right on their own in being the same everywhere.

Rather than being smug, I’ll say awesome! The best time to start using Firefox is yesterday. The second best time is now.

IOW:

Don’t threaten to stop using Google Chrome if they do one more evil thing. Start now.

Tab close buttons are on the right (windows style) instead of on the left (macOS style), for one.
Re:Minimal Phone 2 on Friday September 18, 2026 @05:13AM (#49751884)
They might have been unable to do it due to Claude Code’s training.
Re:Alternatives to MinIO for single-node local S3 on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @09:04AM (#49711942)
Nice!
Re:Alternatives to MinIO for single-node local S3 on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @07:22AM (#49710844)
Isn’t that just minio? At least in LXD it’s minio.
Re:Tether: iMessage, SMS, etc. on Linux on Sunday August 30, 2026 @07:22AM (#49497717)
Hmm yeah I guess I addressed the goal and not the specific thing you mentioned. Oops.
Re:Nvidia agrees to acquire Hugging Face for $13B on Thursday August 27, 2026 @05:56AM (#49462252)
Disingenuous quote. Missing the full “open source AI” phrasing.
Re:Qwen3.8-Max: A New Bar for Coding and Cowork on Monday August 03, 2026 @12:48AM (#49151327)
We are in the golden period where this IS possible. Once it becomes the norm to "do something else while your agent works", we'll be asked to do more WORK while the agent works, rather than do hobbies/housework/nap/etc.
Re:Running Kimi K3 on a M1 Max on Tuesday July 28, 2026 @11:16PM (#49093040)
Supposedly RDMA over Thunderbolt 5 can allow this.
Re:Neutrino-1 8B on Tuesday July 28, 2026 @03:42AM (#49080646)
I just tune out. It’s not worth knowing, following every development in the field. If something works now it will probably work in 8 months even if it’s no longer the new hype thing. Who cares.

Not using any of it is also a valid option though it doesn’t satisfy your FOMO. But nothing ever will.

Re:Forth on Monday July 27, 2026 @10:48PM (#49078659)
My brain tells me Yoda speak would likely be: love Forth, I do.

But then he would also say: Forth is the path to the Light Side…

An on-board GPU is not a GPU?
Does that Declaration give you an inalienable right to do anything you please? I doubt it. As the old saying goes, your freedom stops where someone else’s freedom starts.

Or in Seinfeld speak, “we live in a society!!!”

Have to consider others not just oneself. That’s the price of freedom and being responsible about it.

The alternative is a nanny state or anarchy.

Re:Sam Neill has died on Monday July 13, 2026 @07:52AM (#48891270)
Aside from Jurassic Park and the other roles mentioned, I also liked his role in the Merlin TV two part movies. Now I need to rewatch both…
> It’s kind of like saying wedding photographers will be impacted because of the people posting on r/iPhoneography. Seems kind of silly doesn’t it.

I don’t know how it is all around the world but where I live, the photography is part of the whole packaged wedding plan and there’s no choice/option BUT to use one, guaranteeing their (expensive) service and job, regardless of what people can produce on their own.

OTOH, it’s probably better to have someone neutral there who can take pics rather than eat/drink/cry and whatever else people do at weddings ;)
