You probably already heard of storing amount in cents as an integer, but it's a pattern worth mentioning if it fits your use case.

I'm wary of incentivizing corporations as a personal wealth vehicle, but I still agree with you. Payroll, sales, capital gains, and value added taxes are a great place to shift or grow tax revenues should we ever reduce the corporate tax rate.

>is clearly intended to presuppose the guilt of the defendant

This does not presuppose guilt in a way that would represent a direct conflict of interest in the US Justice system.

The Department of Justice is an executive agency whose directive is to bring indictments like this to trial - like a District Attorney.

The US court system, or the judicial branch, have no obligation to agree with the Department of Justice's position and are actually often don't side with them on matters like this where they test the precedent and definition of the law.

Ironically, the Chinese court system on the other hand has the rule of 3 Supremes - in that the views of the Communist party takes precedent over written law in judgements. In China, if a similar charge levied by the executive branch, this actually means guilt is presupposed in those passing judgement due to their lack of separation.

Honestly, they should embrace it. Change the Yap logo to the outline of the island. Turn an abysmal oversight into a piece of marketing lore.

As far as ads go, this was the most convincing sell I've seen for a high end computer in a long time. Good job to whoever is doing the marketing.

There ought to be a setup guide that suggests ways to customize style and other things when you first install Firefox
You put a very disappointing feeling into words. Such a shame.

It's not, if you scroll up there's a fellow who determined it's closer to 2.5b a quarter for Azure.

It's 'inflated' as in a large section of their enterprise software is included with Azure, similar to GCP with G suite. That being said, Amazon Chime and Workdocs are also included in AWS revenue, but probably make up a much less significant portion of AWS revenue compared to GCP and Azure.
Cost of living has been skyrocketing in Toronto and Vancouver as well unfortunately.
I have rejuvenated confidence in Google after seeing the push on Pixel phones and Nest devices, though that confidence still isn't very high.
While I understand the sentiment, I think most of us are interested particularly in the separated cloud and productivity revenues, which is why people bring this up.

Even though AWS is 'purer' relative to GCP's and Azure's percentages of productivity revenues in their numbers, I don't think we can extrapolate much more than that from the numbers anyways.

I always thought it was funny seeing articles of unlikely-to-succeed VC funded startups and random corporate comms

The scientific applications are endless!
I don't think Azure is behind GCP - from what I've not only read but personally found in their offerings and support teams, Azure and AWS are really comparable for most, and GCP lags behind both.
AWS has better open source managed solutions than Azure and GCP right now, but Azure also has things like a billing console that can integrate with AWS - which is a great feature albeit not being so powerful yet.
Azure and GCP had either comparable or worse UIs for a lot of services compared to AWS, but region specific UIs were a notable unintuitive design compared to others.
Do you think you know or could guess an average response time for ticket responses?
I don't think people worry about about lock in for either when deciding cloud providers, considering cloud agnostic solutions exist when it is a concern.
Think MS just has a better sales experience for cloud in general after getting to know the space - not just existing contacts.
I don't think it's the exception, rather the other way around actually!
I'm not sure this is true? I know Azure/MS was way better with sending someone to contact my team (as well as other larger corporations I got to talk to) to figure out a type of partnership with us and determine the level of support we'd need. I don't think Amazon being a competitor is really considered for most cos, either.

I don't think there's some latent distrust of AWS or that people really equate Windows being good means Azure is good - I think it's known Amazon has top tier support, really great reliability and security (like Azure), as well as seemingly the best selection.

GCP for example isn't even in the running for most people even though I'd say Google is probably considered the 'brainiest' tech co.

Source: talked to folks at banks, a handful of startups, and manufacturers who've gone with Azure or AWS when deciding for our biz.

>does anyone do it better?

Not currently, sadly, imo.

In 2019 I set week long goals and if I didn't meet them, did a review of why and tried to minimize what stopped me (often meant blocking or uninstalling distractions, making more time in a literal calendar, or contacting people for help).

I can't help you set those goals and do this every week, but I made a ritual of it on Sunday afternoons, and building it as a habit contributed significantly to me actually ever doing it.

What you consider premium, I consider a rip off.

Ehh it might just be that the cost of living in some parts of Greece are much lower than in others, making the average salary much lower than the requisite for covering cost of living for more expensive regions.

Numbeo seems to support this based on CoL in Athens: https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/in/Athens

>Is the US also wanting me underneath them by not giving me a work Visa to work FAANG?

Arguably yes based on his comment.

And for the record, you can work for several FAANG companies in the EU. Why not just start working?

When I've heard people question or say there is no rule of law in China, usually it's followed up with how their court system isn't independent of their political system by design, not that it's lawless/a free for all for the CCP.

Not that I disagree with a large chunk of what you said either, but it's just not hyperbole that China has no rule of law per a common definition of the word because of party and worker judicial supremacy.

Rule of law definition: the restriction of the arbitrary exercise of power by subordinating it to well-defined and established laws.

Zing by Azul is very cool from what I've heard engineers talk about as well as marketing, though it being a proprietary beast definitely affects people considering using Java over Go.
