Re:Recreational Programming on Thursday October 15, 2026 @09:25AM (#50103365)
I retired in 2016 after many tears of programming. I kept on programming in the recreational style. Trouble is, I often run out of fun ideas. I did go through most every useful program I have written and asked for an AI version in another language. Am embarrased to say I usually liked the AI version better.

I found it best to stay Linked-Out.
Both are pretty tasty if you don't over spice them.
I built a checking program in C# to mainly use as a check register and balancing tool. Doesn't do double entry accounting. Also build a simple notes program in both C# and python that can use the same data file. Also did a cheap and dirty internet radio player on an old Rasp. pi. Used one push button to cycle thru a list of internet radio feeds. Plus an led that flashed the index of the list which gave me an idea of which station I was on.

"Get started for free" - warning enough.
Easy, stay away from that company.
I will be very reluctant to pay a monthly fee for any website.
