Babbage supposedly said something like "I cannot rightly understand how this question came to be, a politician asked me once: "If one enters the wrong information into the engine, will it still provide a correct answer?". "

Does one know one is a runner up for this prize? If you knew you might win wouldn't you stay up and stay near your phone and just take the next day off?

Back in the days of s100 computers, I had a poly 88. I wrote a game-of-life that used the video memory as the cell array. characters meant a dead cell that next gen would be live, dead -> dead, live -> dead, live->live - one pass replaced the current generation with one of those 4 chars. The second pass would resolve the chars back to Live "@" and dead "." cells. 8080 Machine code (hand assembled). It would do about 1 generation a second. The life array was 40x25..

Yes it was a relative's DNA. So you have to not only submit your DNA, you have to talk your all your kin out of submitting theirs. That includes sisters or brothers separated by adoption in early life.

Some have suggested covering the notch, as another test you could try watching your movie with the notch un-covered but with your room lights up a bit - so you reduce contrast from bright screen to dark background and let your pupils close somewhat.

In a public space a random person might 'see' you there - but they would not know who you were and may not even remember you correctly. A machine on the other hand remembers perfectly and records constantly. As far as your car-the random observer may be hard pressed to note the fact of your license plate number while trying to remember what kind and color your car was.
