Some of the best meetings I setup were with head of the CX (Customer Experience).
The reason is SREs typically work on Infra/Product, but rarely see the pain customers endure outside of major incidents.
I have half-jokingly wish a president would introduce a 95% tax bracket at some ridiculous number so this statistic will die.
Binance/Coinbase use hot wallets, they are not stolen from actual user accounts.
For example at most good crypto companies that hold wallets it's not possible to ssh at all, even if someone asked and go permission. It just simply isn't possible short of having a AWS root key or physical access to a computer in a DC.
There is no login, no accounts, no ssh keys or similar, they are immutable containers running from images with a signed SHA. The SHA can only be built by a build system that has it's own set of strict security controls.
Without details, I don't know why a comproised laptop would make any difference unless it submitted code through a PR and had it approved by multiple people.
I use it only with tailscale.
Ironically this is why I flag these articles, any slightly nuanced discussion is not allowed, its all the reddit/X style commenters adding 0 value.
Speed doesn't always mean accuracy either.
It is insanely difficult vs any other new sass startup with a profile->api key.
I won't even bother typing out all the steps.
Usually it's one outspoken engineer with lots of experience and anecdotes but not a link between cause/effect.. just a lot of war stories and slowing others down.
The larger it gets, the more fringe/outlier groups start to take over.
All spaces turn into echo chambers with enough people. I could be wrong.
It's mostly around navigating these nuances at work. Even what words to use "I built this" vs "LLM built this"
I know how to design large multi PR projects with multiple agents, but the ORG/LLM navigation , you can't learn by talking to AI.

I wouldn't scold someone for thinking it, its ok to have floating thoughts. Just don't double down on them and start arguments over the internet with strangers.
I've been at places where I went years hardly doing work on a average week. But I'm also good [at some things] so when it mattered I showed up, then didn't do anything for months.
Also, if you build a foundation of being very good, you can coast on that even longer (years) in the right situation. There are 1000s of stories of people doing nothing for years making six figures, easy.
The amount of people working on regulation, compliance and other non-revenue generating responsibilities increases substantially.
I don't mean in a forum where everyone bashes AI, but actually discusses how to navigate this?
It's not here at HN.
You might 'care' to add features nobody asked for? Or 'care' to spend longer than necessary to refactor something that doesn't need it.
Stop saying 'guys' is performative, it is not moving the needle at all on the big stuff. The strongest people also have strong wills, taking it or leaving it. They could be the best people to have on your side.
I get what you're saying on paper, but in the workforce, that's not how things go down.
I used to do the same thing without AI, I'd spend a week working on a task and only realizing at the end it was wrong, but because I spend so much time on it, I was incentived more to keep going and ignoring sunk-cost.
Now I don't care, it only takes me a an hour and I have no problems throwing it away and trying something else.
I'm not defending FB practices, I'm stating it has value beyond the hyperbole.
People don't like change, this will be a non-story in a year.
This is not a reflection on any type of wording of group activities, rather human nature.
