From the intro: The new, alternative view, was that college and universities should be places where fresh ideas untrammeled by hidden connections to the established structures of power in American society should have the chance to develop themselves. In practice this meant a hearty welcome to neo-Marxism, radical feminism, historicism, post-colonialism, deconstructionism, post-modernism, liberation theology, and a host of other ideologies.
Also from the intro: The National Association of Scholars (NAS) has long been interested in the politicization of science.
It's definitely the most developer-friendly language that heavily borrows from their functional F# language. Microsoft has put a heavy bet into simulation so that they have a bit more of a runway before they need to produce a working quantum computer based on topological architecture. Interesting that they are targeting developers whereas most other languages are targeting scientists.
Our company has used 3 generations of polycom devices and they have all been terrible/unusable. Those units are just an IT nightmare because of how they are set up. The newer ones require two ethernet ports if you want them wired (because reasons?), and then also act as a weird computer joining the meeting. If you are in a room with a device, the room has to be invited and join the meeting, then you have to make sure that polycom device is set up with sound but that everything else in the room is muted or else the electronic Harpies will be unleashed. Then if you want screen sharing and video, since the video is regulated by the polycom but screen is shared on a laptop, you can potentially get the video in video in video recursive fun time which will result in fun buffering.
We have "quick" instructions on how to use these devices and they take up a whole page. Most of the devices are abandoned or just left there gathering dust while we use a simple Jabra speaker puck.
PS - Most of these experiences are with SfB. These devices are somehow worse with Webex.
Is this a result of the AI being written by a bunch of non-black people? It seems to me that this problem is more of a reflection of the people working on the code.
It totally changes the game and it's even worse on an amateur level. Professionals are making 80-90% of their shots, and the sweeping techniques were pushing that percentage higher. However, amateurs are only making 50% of their shots, and this technique/fabric can make a shot go from a miss to a perfect hit. Although the WCF did rule that for local bonspiels (tournaments), any fabric can be used so this discussion for the amateur level is quite moot.
"...time that could be better spent working on new features and shipping new code"
Can we please stop putting forth this idea that features >>> reliable product? The amount of dev time that a company will save from removing technical debt will likely be more than the extra sales the company will get from a new feature. I look forward to the day where the executive team comes to the developers and ask why they are working on features instead of cutting down technical debt.
