Congrats!
However, it does not look ready to be used. For one, I am missing docker-compose which would spin both frontend and backend with all dependencies. Documentation does not state that but in backend docker-compose file I see a dependency on Redis.
Things like that makes it hard for me to try this out (also, not supporting local models - but this might be coming in the future, as you've stated)...

An open-source implementation of Amazon S3 - MinIO has had it for almost two years (relevant post: https://blog.min.io/leading-the-way-minios-conditional-write...). Strangely, Amazon is catching up just now.

First, it affects my app ratings in the application store/shop. Some user with 15-year-old device gives me 1-star rating because of some annoying bug that was already fixed 10 years ago but he can not upgrade because that newer version is using a newer API.
Also, what about bugfixes and support? I do not want to have to support (answer emails/calls and deal with bad reviews on all platforms) my ancient version of an app. This would make my app unaffordable for 99% of my users.

IMHO, would be easier to get a new restaurant mobile number and update that on the restaurant/google website than to contact Google support.
However, this article in the Guardian will likely attract some attention from Google employees.

That's not true. E.g. Lithuania has laws restricting it (can not even have opened alcohol bottles inside of a car).

I was genuinely expecting another article about ChatGPT and some ingenious way to use it for generating test-cases.
Turns out, this is just marketing post after all with no relation to the former... Disappointing...

Also, the orchestration becomes easier - you can run the same docker container on multitude of different OSes and configurations.
In addition to that, you get great isolation.

Please bear in mind that there is a regulation in EU that prices of the same product should not differ based on the country you are coming from (source: https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/consumers/unfair-treat..., "Price discrimination is not allowed" section).

IMHO, Raspberry Pi / Arduino + addons (I believe they are called "shields") is the best thing that happened to robotics in this century...
Re:Ask HN: A Laptop that outsources processing to a Desktop?

"Bundled with transmitter/receiver" is the tricky part. How would you configure such device? How it would know where and how to convert/send/receive signal? To solve those basic problems you'll need some computational power.
There we arrive at thin clients (for example like those: http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/cloud-client-computing?stp...). Some of them do have wireless connectivity...

Just buy an ultrabook/some laptop with good screen, good network card and long-lasting battery. If heat is the problem for you, I would suggest some aluminum-encased laptop that would disperse heat more easily. IMHO, probably Google chromebook (https://www.google.com/chromebook/) is the kind of device you are looking for...
Also what you need is a remote desktop app. There are quite a few nowadays (from "Remote Desktop" in Windows, to TeamViewer, VNC or etc.). A quite good list is in wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_remote_desktop_s... .
