Re:Killings in the U.S. are dropping at a historic rate on Monday October 23, 2023 @01:25PM (#37988795)
More lies, I didn't say any of that... why are you fake quoting?

Here's Golda's famous quote again, study it, maybe you'll change:

“When peace comes we will perhaps in time be able to forgive the Arabs for killing our sons, but it will be harder for us to forgive them for having forced us to kill their sons. Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.” ― Golda Meir,

oh my! TIL! ty for this, I never knew and do ctrl+shift, backspace all the time.
I have it on my personal pc already but my work machine doesn't yet have it.
This isn't opening the csv file directly, it's importing it into an existing (though possibly not yet saved) workbook. I can attest that it works correctly though it is kind of annoying if you don't want to do more than just some simple manipulation.

Also I believe excel for mac either doesn't have this feature or it's not as feature rich as the windows counterpart.

Re:Killings in the U.S. are dropping at a historic rate on Monday October 23, 2023 @11:59AM (#37987584)
more lies. every single one of those children was a human shield in the very real sense of the fact that they were kept right next to a rocket launch in an attempt to prevent Israel from responding. that's both cynical and sickening. There is no collective punishment being done by Israel here, its all Hamas abusing their own citizens as well as collectively punishing all of Israel.

You can always be sure that any argument used to attempt to defend Hamas or palestinian terror not only doesn't apply to them but is actually the very thing they are doing to the Jews.

As I said you would do, you've painted a pretty picture of falsehoods and wrapped it in lies and misinformation. You are justifying genocide while calling anyone who points that out a nazi, truly despicable.

I have yet to have a conversation with anyone on this topic who defends hamas and hasn't had to immediately resort to fabricating their entire narrative out of thin air. You're just another charlatan in a long line who can barely contain his glee at the thought of more Jewish blood being spilled. You're always ready to label the very people who have been the nearly sole victims of genocide and collective punishment throughout history as Nazis simply because they don't want to be murdered quietly as you'd like.

And just so we're clear: > Dropping missiles on houses with children is. And not just in the "I don't like it!" sense you seem to be using the phrase. It's collective punishment: punishing people with no relation to the crime just because they happen to be near folks who are close to the crime whom you want to hurt by association.

THIS IS LITERALLY WHAT HAMAS AND ISLAMIC JIHAD ARE DOING EVERY DAY FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS! How can you with a straight face pretend you have even an ounce of morality when saying something like that??

We still haven't addressed how that website seems to know very intimate details about every single aspect of the palestinian lives, down to the very way they were killed and by who and what, while jews were "supposedly", "allegedly", "according to". Hamas is famous of inflating their numbers, they've been caught many times claiming living children were killed to make an airstrike look worse, basically any claim coming out of Gaza is not only suspect, it's downright unbelievable without overwhelming supporting evidence. Additionally that website still appears to claim that many deaths that were caused by misfired Hamas and IJ rockets were Israeli airstrikes, so again, nothing posted there is reliable or trustworthy.

I'm not gonna engage with your lies anymore, I'll leave you with the immortal (adapted) words of Golda Meir: Until you love your children more than you hate Jews this war won't be over.

I just think angering the people who are supposed to be caring for me is a great way to receive subpar care, I don't care how moral and "above it all" healthcare workers are supposed to be, at the end of the day they're human and if you tell them you don't value their hard work, they may just put in a little less effort than you'd like. (just like you might do the same for a boss who belittles you and refuses to give the raise you feel deserve).

As an example, in many countries where they have socialized healthcare, nurses and doctors do often go on strike, which has always resulted in worse care during those times...

Re:Killings in the U.S. are dropping at a historic rate on Monday October 23, 2023 @12:17AM (#37981560)
Most of the "children" were teenagers who were in the midst of carrying out terrorist attacks. they don't provide a comprehensive list, but I'm sure if it were investigated it would be found that all those young children were being used as human shields by their parents/guardians, which is a war crime and absolutely despicable, and just totally unacceptable in any civil society.

Again, your website is a bunch of lies, I just perused it, it always uses the passive voice when discussing a Jew's death and always definitively describes a bunch of falsehoods when describing a terrorist's timely passing.

Using your definition everyone is a settler everywhere at all times anytime they move.

I do not find it one iota disturbing that a bunch of evil people where prevented from continuing to commit unspeakable acts of terror, rape and murder. The fact that you identify with such despicable actions and wanted them to continue speaks volumes about your character.

eta: not sure why I'm even engaging you, every time I've ever discussed Israel with someone defending the bloodthirsty murder of Jews I'm subjected to a veritable onion of falsehoods that would make Pinocchio blush. I'm sure you're right now concocting a reply that will be such a haystack of untruth it would take days to unwind it all and prove that really all you're attempting to do is justify genocide.

Re:Killings in the U.S. are dropping at a historic rate on Monday October 23, 2023 @12:03AM (#37981489)
99% of those 280 people are terrorists who were in the midst of carrying out a terrorist attack, the UN numbers are for homicides, not preventing tragedies. I bet you're also upset about the 1500 terrorists who were killed in Israel last week,

Additionally, your website refers to every single Jew as a settler... so not really gonna take anything on there as unbiased.

That being said, I also don't believe the numbers, PLO and Hamas routinely disappear people, as do many other "resistance" groups in that area, crime in general there is rarely reported because everyone in PLO/Hamas controlled areas knows the "gov" such as it is doesn't do much in the way of supporting their people, they're more concerned with enriching themselves.

but policing is returning to precovid levels compared to 2020-2021, and it appears murder is falling at a similar rate.. where do you get your information from?
Just to put it more succinctly: you’re in favor of angering all healthcare providers (doctors, nurses, etc) to make healthcare better.

I don’t know if the outcome you want is the outcome you’re gonna get with that strategy. Might want to consider the humans actually affected and how they might react instead of treating everyone as some faceless cabal of evildoers bent on pulling money out of your pocket.

> What is your actual counterposition here?

That yelling fire in a theater is dangerous and that is quite literally what the NYT and NPR did.

The falsehoods they repeated caused immediate panic and rioting in many Muslim communities and countries, they’ve burned down synagogues and Israeli embassies over a false story.

there are a few projects that do this, but it doesn't really matter... not enough people use any single one and most new videos will never really show accurate info

my iphone 6s and 12 pro beg to differ. both saw serious drops in battery in pretty normal 10-15F chicago winters while I was outdoor ice skating or even just going for a long walk with the phone in my pocket.
Re:Google Cloud Spanner is now half the cost of Amazon DynamoDB on Wednesday October 11, 2023 @04:40PM (#37849983)
In the timestamped video link shared downthread, the speaker does seem to strongly imply that gWorkspace doesn’t manage the infra, when he finishes explaining the migration he declares “we can focus on building new features for gmail and worry less about the underlying infra” which would imply, to me at least, that it’s on GCP.
Re:Google Cloud Spanner is now half the cost of Amazon DynamoDB on Wednesday October 11, 2023 @04:38PM (#37849956)
Somehow I thought you were at Amazon/AWS because of how much you push it in your book. Cool to see you’re at GCP.

Pretty sure I've had this happen in chrome too, on both mac and windows, just kinda assumed it was an OS thing.
part of the issue is that the mullahs get to decide who goes on the ballet. it's not really a free election when the options are fixed beforehand.
Not quite, the GP is pointing out that it's become in vogue as of late to express hate for the USA among leftist circles, those people will post the raised fist or w/e appropriate color to the SM profiles and do little else, but they all do express admiration for 44.
Orion on iOS has addr bar on the bottom, also supports rich set of gestures for tab navigation, if you're looking for an alternative to safari on iOS I'd take a look at that. They also offer a mac option, no MS option yet.
My big issue with Vivaldi is the very noticeable lag in the UI compared to chrome/edge. every time I've tried over the last 3-5 years I've been disappointed and switched back to chrome, I wish I could switch to FF, but I have a few extensions I can't do without

> That they aren't even interested in that model is because they're in a Faustian bargain with cellular carriers to drive device renewals and post-paid plans.

I like your idea but in the US at least most mobile carriers actually don't encourage yearly upgrades as they force you into a multiyear contract for your phone to get "the best deal". In fact, currently both verizon and AT&T have 30+ month payment plans for phones so you're locked into at least 2.5 years. consequently, most people hold on to their phone for 3 years now.

Re:HPC at Autodesk on Tuesday October 03, 2023 @08:46PM (#37759556)
Off topic but: currently needing to use autocad for a work project, any recommendations for learning autolisp or w/e the scripting language is? I was having trouble finding a good resource for this, seems like everyone just knows it and the only way to learn is to have good enough Google-fu to find the forum post that fulfills your criteria. And hope it’s not out of date.
Ah yes, because operating it as a national service is really gonna make it sooo much better…

Removing all incentives is surely gonna make people want to do their best.

You know many counties originally had only a single or two nationalized airline and all of them were such money drains that the governments were all forced to privatize them to keep them afloat.

and I'm sure this will be magically delisted from google search for some odd reason...
NN rules didn’t (and likely won’t) affect mobile carriers due to the limited nature of wireless spectrum, the FCC views throttling and data prioritization as a necessary evil.
