Makes me want to run agents on it
They bundle both python and ollama in that app bundle, and the ollama folder is something like 500MB unpacked , bundled python I think was 80MB.

Not sure what they do on the windows side.

Well - in this case the EWD in TFA - has a footer that says.

And so seem to be the case with most of the other EWDs I looked at as well.

Wasnt the original famously in written with Fountain pen? And the typed out version reproduced much later?

can not answer to the other points. But under 'set up shop' there is a selection of metric vs imperial units. (among many other things)
It'll be like collecting pokemon
They'll probably give us 300 years for the low-low price of total serfdom
Re:AI is now capable of developing its own inference hardware on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @02:57AM (#49989284)
Yes you are right, I didnt express what I meant very well.

looking up static values is quick and easy. When you need to lookup results from previous stages of pipeline rather than just feeding them forward, thats where I run into trouble. But I am a relatively fresh FPGA designer, so I am sure it can be done. And I probably need to level up my boards a bit too.

Re:AI is now capable of developing its own inference hardware on Tuesday October 06, 2026 @08:16PM (#49986114)
FPGA speed is a common misconception. They often have run at quite modest frequencies, and come with limited memory capacity compared to a GPU at same price range.

Speed (clocks speed) , is dependent on your design layout, and for any resonably advanced layout, it takes lots of knowledge to push the clockspeed beyond 200Mhz on 'consumer'/prosumer models. (Compare to a few GHz for GPU/CPU).

FPGA speed shine where they can pipeline massively parallel calculations through pipelines with minimal lookups.

without having the full background here. This feels like a very valid reason
perhaps religious and moral pressure not to excersize the choice available has decreased between 50s and 2000s

What's interesting to me, is how it selected this heavy dark shadows brutalist style, which is a sort of stylized skeuomorphism , and then it decided to add a background different from page bg, breaking whatever illusion there was.
That was regarding the HPC Fugaku , this is next generation

Per highway mile, now, I am not sure if overall is better or worse. But it seems to be a discrepancy to Waymo measurement.

Also not sure if Waymo data includes pedestrian deaths? (NSC seems not to)

Re:Show HN: Compute Polynomials Twice as Fast on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @10:30PM (#49637634)
It keeps flipping back to 'monic' from e.g. 'ln(1+x)' when switching between algorithms, and then seems to lock to 'monic'? (Am I missing something?)

Also I am curious, in your version vs. horner , how do both algorithms map onto number of fmadd operations?

Oracle is Old-Tech ;-)

The AI companies are the ones that want copyright gone.

Yeah you are right, dont know where I got the idea that they had switched to Android after I bought mine in the 2020s
Re:216M Spy TVs – The LG Smart TV Problem [video] on Monday September 07, 2026 @09:46PM (#49604804)
Because it is a 'smart Tv', and it asks to get connected to the internet during setup?

That being said, I have an old LG Tv (pre-android, forget what they call the os), and I never connected it, opting instead to hook up a firetv stick .... (who knows what bad crap they might be up to btw).

But the point is, we are a minority, most people go the path of least resistance.

Using python as a build tool, and Cmake as the programming language, now all that is missing is a bit of config in ASM

Sometimes these little endevors, are like art, they don't have to mean something, they just has to make you feel something.

Feeling Queasy, is still a feeling, mind you.

We just need to find a way to extend Moores law into the 4th dimension, and hardware will catch up to this.
Re:Copyright does not protect AI-generated content in EU on Thursday August 20, 2026 @10:35PM (#49383012)
wasnt there a case a while back, where GPL or LGPL code made its way into MIT licensed software via LLM? And they were forced to remove the copyleft code. I dont remember the details though.

They even had the slogan all drawn up;

Fitta: Small on the outside, Big on the inside!

They should just have gone with it , staring everyone, who brought it up, down.
