Anticheat doesn’t work on Linux (and neither do the games that support them) so I’m not sure what you’re taking about.
Screw dependencies, write your own. Software is cheap and fast now. No need to depend on someone else’s code as a possible attack vector.
Exactly why I refuse to buy any screen greater than 60hz. I’m fine with 60hz, and don’t want to ruin it for myself. Plus it’s cheaper.
I’m sorry for your loss. That is a wonderful story.
Or OpenAI and Anthropic are AOL and Yahoo.
If you're actually asking the question and not being sarcastic, no, Deepseek does not offer subscriptions at all, subsidized or otherwise. You only can use them at the API rates.
I've been designing UI's professionally for 30 years and have seen a lot of changes over time, but I will echo what you said and give an additional reason: design education.
When I was getting my design degree, a large majority of what you learned was how to give and take a critique. It was central to everything you did. You were also taught things like "It's not your idea, it's an idea" that allowed you to critically think about solutions to problems without falling in love with your own designs.
This was fostered at the companies I worked for in the late 90's/early 2000's. We would have intense debates about designs, play devil's advocate (sometimes against our own designs!) in order to leave the room with the best ideas and solutions to problems. It was collaborative, energetic, peer reviewed, and we produced great designs for users.
This is not taught anymore. Critiques aren't given in school so as not to offend anyone. Much of UX Design has also transitioned to boot camps vs college design degrees which focus on pumping out students who can manipulate Figma, not students who understand the process and techniques of real design.
As such, professionally it's very hard to have real debates about design without someone getting offended or fighting for solutions that are sub par because it's "their" idea they can't let go of. The critical thinking and detail that used to go into design has been replaced with vibes.
And don't get me started on the fact that many students coming into the workforce simply don't have the design chops in the first place.
Was gonna say, it's a distinction without a difference. Copilot is just a harness to Opus, same as Claude Code.
This is the end of software development and the beginning of software management. The problem is you don't need a lot of people to do the later. There are going to be a lot of devs out there vying for the same jobs in the future drastically driving down salaries.
And the same thing will happen to devs that happened to factory workers. Jobs will get moved offshore, and salaries will drop, mass layoffs. And SWE's don't have unions like factory workers did.
I think it's important to remember that Deepseek is owned by High Flyer and it's not their core business. They don't need to make a ton of money on Deepseek to stay afloat because most of their income comes from their hedge fund business.
> now that we're all going to standardize on Meta's model
Who's this "we" exactly?
All product is sent to Amazon warehouses from all sellers. It’s how Amazon has such fast shipping. And all product of the same type from all sellers is commingled. So you never know what you’re going to get.
My wife had a similar experience. Went to a new dentist (A) that had good reviews, high tech facility, etc, said she had 7 cavities. Thought that was a bit odd (and high), so asked friends for recommendations on a second opinion.
Second opinion dentist (B) says she doesn't have any cavities. Wife mentions how dentist A said she had 7 cavities and mentions his name. Turns out dentist B was a professor at Uni and taught dentist A. Dentist B remarked "Dentist A was always an ambitious student".
Wife has had 1 cavity since we switched to Dentist B 15 years ago now. He's been the best dentist we've ever had. The funny part is if dentist A had told her 2 cavities instead of 7 initially, she probably would have stayed with him. But 7? He got too greedy.
You just buy an Apple product and they send you a fake. They commingle counterfeit stuff with legit products (at least they used to) so it was luck of the draw.
Personally I always picked up an issue to see if the "Drunk of the Week" was someone I knew on campus.
I may actually have some of these. I picked up a bunch of issues in Madison in the early 90's and I'm pretty sure I still have them...somewhere.
There are lots of these in northern Minnesota and they used the tailings to turn the areas into some really great mountain biking trails, which really helps those old mining towns.
That 3-9 record is still 9 playoff appearances. Most coaches barely get one. It is just incredibly hard to win in the NFL.
You can think of it as Reddit for nerds basically. Started by investment fund Y Combinator, so most of the talk is latest tech shit and startup talk, with posts like this mixed in.
They keep using them. Most uses don't give a shit about security updates.
If you read the TL thread on this, the bot is technically running at 240 APM, but its commands get split off into separate commands for each unit, so the APM looks higher.
I've watched several replays on this. It using map hacks is lame but it also doesn't always take advantage of them. It sometimes does respect its own fog of war. It mostly wins with incredible micro (kinda has to, it's macro kinda sucks).
Most of its few losses come from drops (it never makes turrets and doesn't know how to handle them), bad macro (blocking its own ramp) or just incredibly unconventional play from its opponent (which is certainly not in its training set).
The other side of this equation is the people who now pump out socks for pennies. You can get what you’re advocating for but it means software development becoming something closer to sweat shops.
There were numerous wiki's that were flooded with this stuff, it's just the German one that got the most traffic.
It's the same basic training data, and if these agents were spamming the internet looking for a host wiki they probably found several and when finding other agents on one of them, they most likely just congregated there because it would have a higher value than one where they were the only agent on the wiki.
And these old manuals make it trivial to build a midi app for your old synths. The sysex specs are usually so detailed that it makes it very easy for Claude to follow and whatever it comes up with usually "just works".
I've built apps for all my old synths, not just to save sysex patches but also for midi control. It's actually amazing some of the hidden features these old synths have that you didn't even really know about because Claude finds all the connections in some cryptic sysex addendum in the manual.
A person eating one single hamburger uses more water than an entire year of LLM use for the same person. Yet we are very concerned about water use in data centers, but nobody cares about McDonalds.
I have to assume this means that they are about to release the final version of v4 Pro and it uses more resources than the preview did

Preact is 3kb. The size argument doesn’t hold weight.
Where I work we call these people “very expensive keyboards”.
