Re:Restrooms along the Norwegian Scenic Routes on Sunday November 01, 2026 @07:18AM (#50324925)
You say it like it's given that natural resources wealth is distributed for population like it's in Norway. Its not. It takes a lot of work. Otherwise you get shithole countries where warlords/corporations/mafia take over control of resources and enrich them selves instead of raising global wellbeing.

its middle ground in a sense that it has all centralisation (1) and none of legal accountability (0) so averages at 0.5 (middle ground)

Would it not be just easier to connect actual iphone to the laptop for testing?
curious is fuck ICE a "violent rhetoric" or threat? Or how else can you disagree with people who abuse their power? "Please stop doing that"?
Re:Wealth Inequality in America drawn to scale on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @09:02AM (#50272890)
Id say you CAN tax the poor (by wealth), and apparently they are contributing almost same absolute amount like the top rich :

Rough estimates for federal taxes

Top 0.1% Share of federal taxes ~10–12% Approx ~$550–650B

Bottom 50% Share of federal taxes ~10–13% Approx ~$520–680B

Re:Wealth Inequality in America drawn to scale on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @08:55AM (#50272797)
But somehow these rich people take loans of real money that they buy real things for. So it looks like you could eat or live from stocks.
ok, so put a disclosure time on ruling. how how much time should pass so that information is non risk anymore? So you know that nukes locations got leaked, so what do you do? do you relocate the base? if not how sure can you be that this information is not accuired by enemies? So if you do not realocate the base you accept that this is acceptable risk. So might be that publishing the ruling is also acceptable?
Re:SS United States to be sunk as largest artificial reef on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @06:08AM (#50271256)
Have they tried renaming the ship to something else before sinking it in gulf of America?

Re:The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @05:59AM (#50178324)
why? We know that we influence it, but the direction is unfavourable. why its bad to want to control it in the right direction?
Re:The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @05:58AM (#50178307)
debt is imaginary, temperature is not
or... you take advantage of the imbalance and atack first :) /j
Yeah but you know there trade offs like free society, freedom of movement, privacy and stuff that you need to sacrifice to take advantage of home turf. And you need to do this everywhere. Attacker can pick his targets on his own schedule, you need to defend always.

china is playing long game, not quarter to quarter. As one diplomat said :

"We don't care! China has been here for 5,000 years. Most of the time, there was no United States and we survived"

Yeah, but how these residential proxies get in the residential areas? I would guess popular VPN providers are mostly behind this. They sell you VPN and sell bots residential proxy access on the other end.
Re:Source code of the Estonian online voting system on Sunday October 18, 2026 @03:30AM (#50138795)
if someone is forcing you to vote against your will, i thing you and country have more serious problems to solve. especially if its happening at scale.
Re:Source code of the Estonian online voting system on Sunday October 18, 2026 @03:28AM (#50138778)
but its also easy to scale vote validation for voters with evoting. how to you validate that your vote is counted correctly with paper voting?
Re:Source code of the Estonian online voting system on Saturday October 17, 2026 @04:06PM (#50134611)
So if someone else knows my private key and voted for me not the same way i intended to vote, this will be visible in final results. And then you can start asking questions. If they have my private key and voted the way i intended, then its no problem :)
Re:Source code of the Estonian online voting system on Saturday October 17, 2026 @03:31PM (#50134299)
Most likely similarly how you know in regular "paper" elections
Well DMCA is 60 pages, do you read it when you are creating a web page?

https://www.congress.gov/105/plaws/publ304/PLAW-105publ304.p...

We have civil code for everyday life, do you think people read that? I bet no, but anyway it describes rules by which people live. And when there is disagreement we open a book and see whos right. Do you think we should not have such rule book?

I bet most people have not read any laws in past year. hell, some have not read any laws in their lives. And no i don't agree that i want fewer laws. By the way, how many laws is enough for you?
It takes time. And there will always be something to complain. But don't you agree that things are moving in positive direction?
Sometimes its a good thing that people do not elect directly. They participate indirectly though. And there are general rules to follow. So its more stable framework than full public control each election cycle, because the populism happens and if you want to be elected you cant take unpopular decisions which sometimes are needed.
